A scientist uses a projector that banishes people he dislikes to another world. A light indicates where the beam connects both worlds and one of the men returns. He shoves the scientist through the aperture where he is killed by the natives. Other victims rush forward hoping to escape but the man switches off the device. The story ends with the man uncertain what to do: turn the beam on and rescue the other victims which might allow the attackers to pour through, or shut it off and condemn them to die. He addresses the reader directly, asking "What would you do?"

A teacher notices that everyone laughs at him wherever he goes. It gets to the point where he is on the verge of madness. When talking to the school's dean, he finds out that the dean is an alien from a race of shape shifting humanoid bug-like creatures that have invaded the Earth. These aliens go from planet to planet consuming all living creatures. They have eaten every human on Earth except for the teacher. They had injected him with a duplicating serum so that he will mass produce more humans for them to eat. The teacher kills himself before this can happen.
