Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

First Segment Of Loop 88 Now Up And Running

Posted 04-19-2026 at 06:16 PM by case44

In the beginning, it's just baby steps, but things will be growing when it comes to road construction. And in Lubbock, Texas, folks there can brag that it's the only city in West Texas with two loops.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you State Loop 88.

You've got a small section of mainlanes which just opened up in South Lubbock. Our friend shoe01 just gave us all some new info on our Lubbock Forum. Great stuff. Included with the new post was a file film from KLBK-TV (Channel 13) showing a portion of the eastbound lanes being traveled by their field reporter. Right now, open is Loop 88 from just west of Slide Road over to University Avenue. Under construction is a segment from Avenue U to Interstate 27. In addition, you've also got feeder roads active in both directions.

Your writer will head for Lubbock in July. I don't have to tell you that this Texas roads fanatic will take full advantage of a new road experience.

Opportunity is golden in South Lubbock. I hope the city will be open to building power centers and large office buildings and not just the usual things. Loop 88 is going to be great, and developers need to be paying close attention to this dynamic new artery.

They’ve updated Apple Maps. Almost looks like a glitch.

Haven’t checked Google yet, but I’d imagine that if they haven’t already, they will soon.
