ED Entrance Shifts; New Access Route for Patients

In preparation for the renovation of the Emergency Department (ED) and construction of a new entrance, the ED entrance has moved from the backside of the hospital to the channel (west) side of the hospital. To help direct patients to the temporary entrance, large signs have been placed along the roadway, and a temporary drop-off area has been made to help guide those seeking emergency care. Hospital employees will be stationed at the temporary ED entrance door 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the duration of the project to help direct and assist patients. The ED remains fully open and operational throughout the duration of the renovation project.

Automated Appointment Reminders Now Available

Bartlett Regional Hospital is now using automated appointment reminders and online patient intake forms for scheduled appointments at the hospital. Patients will be asked for their preference (text, voicemail, email or opt out) at the time their visit is scheduled. We hope this addition to our registration process makes it easier for patients to manage their busy schedules and improves our customer service and communication. As we implement this new process, feedback will be helpful as the system evolves to better serve patients and staff. Please share your experiences and suggestions with our registration staff.

Contrast-Enhanced Mammography Now Available

Bartlett Regional Hospital is the first in Southeast Alaska to offer contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM) - a relatively new breast imaging procedure that uses both digital mammogram technology and a contrast agent to provide clearer and more detailed images of breast tissue. This exam is especially beneficial for women with dense breast tissue, which may hide breast cancer. This simple and quick procedure is performed in less than ten minutes with the same mammography equipment and trusted team. Bartlett Regional Hospital launched the Fireweed Award in July 2022 to help recognize employees who provide exceptional care and service to our patients. Patients and their families or visitors, nurses, doctors, staff, and hospital volunteers can nominate an employee. Once every quarter, four staff are selected for hospital wide recognition.
