Since opening in 1941, the Australian War Memorial has been dedicated to honouring and sharing the stories of Australians who have served in war and on operations around the world.

Experience these powerful stories through one of our guided tours.

Daily guided tours

Join one of our 90-min guided tours, led by the Memorial’s knowledgeable voluntary guides. Tours explore the Commemorative Area and the First and Second World War galleries.

Tours are run throughout the day starting around 10 am. Spaces are limited—please visit the Commemorative Desk on Level 2 or Main Entrance Desk on Level 0 to secure your place.

Self-guided tours

Explore key highlights from the Memorial at your own pace. The self-guided tour includes the First World War, Second World War and Hall of Valour galleries, with an optional 30-minute Cold War gallery tour.

Use a portable audio device to access commentary and learn more about featured exhibits and collection highlights. Devices are available from the Commemorative Desk on Level 2. Bookings aren't required. 

Highlights audio tour

  • Cost: $10 per person (family discounts available)
  • Duration: 1 to 1.5 hours
  • Languages: English, Mandarin, Hindi

Highlights Auslan (Australian Sign Language) tour

  • Cost: Free for people who are deaf or hearing impaired
  • Duration: 1 to 1.5 hours
  • Language: Australian Sign Language (Auslan), with captions
