Variants:
- 1903-1905: The signature is located in the top left corner of the screen, with "TRADE" and "MARK" flanking the signature. The film's title is displayed in a decorative manner, and only a copyright notice reading "COPYRIGHT [YEAR]" can be seen, located in the bottom right corner.
- On The Great Train Robbery, two Edison signatures appear in the top left and bottom right corners, while two copyright notices can be seen on the bottom left and top right corners.
- On The Kleptomaniac, "TRADE" can be seen above the signature, rather than below the arc.
- 1905-1907: The signature is shown within a dark gray rectangle at the top of the screen, with "TRADE" and "MARK" below the arc. The film's title is shown at the center, and the texts "PATENTED" and "COPYRIGHTED [YEAR]" can be seen in the bottom left and right corners respectively.
- An early version of this variant uses a slightly different Edison signature, with the dark rectangle removed, and "TRADE" and "MARK" flanking the signature.
- On Scenes and Incidents, Russo-Japanese Peace Conference, Portsmouth, N. H., the dark rectangle from the main variant returns.
- Some films switch the patent and copyright notices.
- On both The Whole Dam Family and the Dam Dog and Coney Island at Night, the copyright notice instead reads "COPYRIGHT [YEAR]".
- On both Scenes and Incidents, Russo-Japanese Peace Conference, Portsmouth, N. H. and A Winter Straw Ride, the year is placed after "PATENTED" instead of "COPYRIGHTED".
- On both The Little Train Robbery and The White Caps, another different version of the signature is used, featuring a less curved arc.
- On films documenting the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, the copyright notice is omitted, with the patent notice now positioned at the bottom center.
- On Exploded Gas Tanks, U.S. Mint, Emporium and Spreckels' Bldg., neither the patent notice nor the copyright notice can be seen.
- On both Panoramic View, King Street, Honolulu, Hawaiian Islands and Panoramic View, Oahu Railroad, Pearl Harbor, Hawaiian Islands, the patent and copyright notices are placed at the top of the screen, with the other elements of the logo positioned lower.
- An early version of this variant uses a slightly different Edison signature, with the dark rectangle removed, and "TRADE" and "MARK" flanking the signature.
- 1907-1910: Same as before, but the dark rectangle is removed, "REG. U.S. PAT. OFF." can be seen below the signature, and the patent and copyright notices have switched places. They have also been changed to read "COPYRIGHTED [YEAR] BY EDISON MFG CO" and "PATENTED (REISSUE) JAN 12 1904".
- Like before, some films switch the patent and copyright notices.
- On both College Chums and The Trainer's Daughter; or, A Race for Love, the dark rectangle returns, "REG. U.S. PAT. OFF." is omitted, and the patent notice is removed, with the copyright notice now positioned at the bottom center.
- On Laughing Gas, the parenthesis in "(REISSUE)" are omitted.
- 1910-1915: The signature, along with "TRADE MARK", and "REG. U.S. PAT. OFF." are shown inside the top center of a frame. The frame itself features an outlined circle with a cursive "E" (representing Edison's name) in each corner. The film's title is shown in the center of the frame, and a copyright and patent notice can be seen at the bottom of the frame. The copyright notice reads "Copyrighted [YEAR] Edison Mfg. Co.", and the patent notice reads "Patented (Re-Issue) Jan. 12, 1904."
- In 1911, the copyright notice was changed to read "Copyrighted [YEAR] Thomas A. Edison Inc.".
- In 1912, the copyright notice was changed again to read "Copyright [YEAR] Thomas A. Edison Inc.".
- On Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Treasure Island, and a later release of A Trip to Mars, the logo is inverted.
- Films from early 1913 have the logo set against a dark static background.
- On Kinetophone releases, the frame of the logo is replaced with a simpler design that includes intersecting lines.
- In 1914, the patent notice was removed, with the copyright notice now positioned at the bottom center.
- On The Mission of Mr. Foo, the copyright notice is in the same position it was before the removal of the patent notice.
- In 1915, the font of the copyright notice was changed one that's slightly bolder and slimmer.
- Later in 1915, the font of the copyright notice was changed again to a generic sans-serif one.
- 1915-1918: The frame is replaced with a thick square one, and the signature is replaced with the cursive text "The Thomas A. Edison Studios". The words "TRADE MARK" and "REG. U.S. PAT. OFF." are omitted, and the font of the copyright notice is changed to a serif italic one.
- On One Touch of Nature, the frame has two layers, with the outer layer appearing much thinner.
- The opening titles of The Apple-Tree Girl feature this logo both frameless, and superimposed onto the film's opening background. The font of the copyright notice is changed to match the film's credits, and "Copyright" has been changed to "Copyrighted".
- On The Unbeliever, the frame is removed, and the font of the copyright notice is changed to one similar to that used in The Apple-Tree Girl.
- Three in-film variants of the logo exist.
- The first one features the signature, plus the words "TRADE" and "MARK" flanking it, inside a plaque in a bedroom setting, which was used in Life of an American Fireman, Subub Surprises the Burglar, and the October 1903 version of Buster's Joke on Papa.
- The second one is the same as the first, except the texts "EDISON FILMS AND" and "KINETOSCOPES." flank the signature. This logo appears as one of many in a row of advertisements for Edison's products, set within a streetcar setting, which was used in Street Car Chivalry and The Unappreciated Joke.
- The third one features the "E" circle seen in the corners of the 1910 variant's frame in the background of shots from the film. This can be seen on several films released from 1909-1913.
- A standalone version of this logo can be seen at the end of Frankenstein (1910), featuring the signature, the words "TRADE MARK" below the arc and "REG. U.S. PAT. OFF." below the signature.
- At the end of the Dutch print of At Home in the Water, the version of the logo with "TRADE" and "MARK" flanking the logo is used instead.
- At the end of both Kinetophone releases and R.F.D. 10,000 B.C., this logo is placed inside the same frame as the opening Kinetophone variant.
- Five text card versions of the logo exist:
- The first one features the version of the signature with "TRADE" and "MARK" flanking it at the top of the screen, with text from the film below. This can be seen on both the German print of New York of Today and the Dutch print of The Title Cure.
- The second one is the same as the 1910 variant, but only text from the film is inside the frame.
- In 1913, part of the frame's top was removed in order to add the word "EDISON".
- On both Santa Claus vs. Cupid and The Voice of the Violin, the frame is removed, minus the two "E" circles on the upper part of the screen.
- The third one features the frame from the 1915 variant of the logo, with the italic text "The Edison Studios" inside the top of the frame, and the film's title in the same font at the bottom.
- The fourth one features just Edison's signature at the bottom center of a frame. This can be seen on films released or re-released under the Conquest Pictures name.
- The fifth one is the same as the 1915 variant, except the The Thomas A. Edison Studios text is noticeably smaller, and the film's title replaces the copyright notice. This can be seen on the text cards of One Touch of Nature and The Apple-Tree Girl.
- The Apple-Tree Girl has the film's title at the bottom omitted.
- The Apple-Tree Girl also uses a version of this variant during the opening credits, featuring it frameless and superimposed, like the 1915 variant preceding it.
- Most Dutch prints of Edison films use the 1910 variant of the logo, minus the copyright and patent notices, with the logo now serving as text cards for the film, rather than a title card. The version of the signature used in these prints also vary, it may have "TRADE" and "MARK" flanking the logo, have both words above it, or have "TRADE MARK" above, and "REG. U.S. PAT. OFF." below.

Variant: The later version of the logo can be seen on The Kleptomaniac. This version features all the text, except for the signatures and patent notices, in different fonts, with the entire logo, minus the patent notices, zoomed out to make room for them. There is the statement for the notice below the large Edison signature now reads:
The patent notices are slightly repositioned and now read "PATENTED AUGUST 31, 1897.", and "PATENTED SEPTEMBER 30, 1902, Reissue.". A third notice can also be seen below the two, reading "PATENTED JANUARY 12, 1904, Reissue.".
