Hear Us Now is a project by Ella Beard for solo viola created in response to childhood sexual abuse and the silences surrounding it within classical music culture. Developed with composers Robert Davidson, Hilary Kleinig, and Emily Sheppard, the works explore grief, shame, anger, resilience, and hope from the perspective of victim-survivors, inviting audiences into a more honest and compassionate engagement with abuse and its aftermath.
