Housing Authorities
A Housing Authority, also called a Housing Agency or Public Housing Authority (PHA), supports access to affordable housing in your community. They oversee assistance programs, applications, and resources that help renters find stable housing.
Section 8 Resources for Renters
Section 8 is the nation’s largest rental assistance program that helps renters afford safe, stable homes. It is one of several housing help programs in the US, but the most common way for families to get rental assistance.

Section 8—also called Housing Choice Voucher (HCV)—helps renters pay part of their monthly rent through a housing voucher. Renters pay what they can afford, and the program pays the rest. Each area has its own income rules, rent limits, and waiting list requirements. Many families, seniors, and people with disabilities use Section 8 to stay housed long term.
