Prompt me?

Oh god, I've got the most urgent bug to write something, specifically fanfic. I've been writing more than usual lately already, having finally gotten back into roleplaying with my fiancée and our mutual friend from work, but no one ever...well, reads it. And I can't control all the characters, and sometimes, my focus on style is strong enough that I'd like to be able to. xD

Only thing is, I'm not terribly invested in most fandoms, and my main pairings don't really...exist in fandom anyway seeing as they're from panfandom/multi-fandom RPs. ...Using controversial characters hello, RPF mixed with fandom characters.

That and the Beatlesslash comms tend to have rather boring pieces posted to them most of the time, and I get the impression that fandom is largely girls under the age of 16, somehow.

Anyone in my circle/outside of it who managed to somehow find this entry: are there active fanfic/writing communities on DW? I'd like to stay here rather than migrate to LJ to post everything, but I suppose I could always just cross-post back to here anyway...

Also, anyone who I share a fandom with (I have an incomplete list in my interests on my profile) feel free to prompt me for a fic/ficlet, I need to get in the groove. xD If you're not sure I'm familiar with a fandom go ahead and ask!

Writer's Block: World Vegetarian Awareness Month

What's your favorite vegetarian meal?

Haha, I didn't know there was a month for us. (And the month of my birthday, no less.) Granted I keep hearing about 'coffee day' this and 'free hugs week' that and at this point, I'm thinking they just make unofficial/official days for everything that only people who are already aware of the issue even know about.

Anyway, as a vegetarian, I guess I have a couple favorite foods/meals, but lately I've really been loving (and now, craving) home-made calzones with basil and assorted vegetables. ;; I'm debating walking to the food store to get some fresh basil so I can make it and have lunch made up for the next couple icky days of work. Also palak/saag paneer, which is paneer (a specific, Indian type of cheese) with a sort of paste made out of spinach and spices. I generally eat it with brown rice, but it's good with naan/bread too.

I'm now awaiting the always-expected question of "do you eat fish/chicken/poultry/wear fur/etc" that I always get when mentioning I'm a vegetarian. xD Seriously, nothing else that I mention in conversation at work or at school has ever gotten so much attention and so many standard questions.

Because feminism doesn't mean misandry

My anxiety's recently been getting worse, but my interpersonal skills have also been getting better. Impossible? Not quite!

I've been a member of thequestionclub for a while now, but to be honest, it was kinda dragging me down some days and I've been considering leaving it. Then, an innocuous question from me turned into a dogpiling dramafest which the mod participated in, coupled with the behavior in general I've been seeing from them, and I quit that and the related group I was a member of yesterday. I feel so much more free! Now I might have less posts to sift through while I'm bored, but I also can't subject myself to that sort of moronic "allying" and armchair-judging. The nature of the comm was very "liberal" in the sense that means they think white, straight males are the epitome of what's wrong with the world, and everything female and alternative is correct and can do no wrong. =| Sorry, as a queer female, I have to tell you: that's not what equality is, either.

So now that all that shit-stirring is done, hopefully my online experiences will be a bit more productive. xD There may have been the occassional interesting post, but no interesting DEBATES as those are apparently a little too open-minded of a thing to have in a comm like that, so I won't miss it too much.

--also god, my keyboard's a bit slow tonight. D:
Beatles ♣ The later years

Writer's Block: No. 1 hits

Which is your favorite classic Beatles’ song, and why?

Back when I was first starting to force myself to listen to The Beatles (because my current RP partner played as George Harrison in a multi-fandom RP I was a part of), Lovely Rita was easily my first favorite song. It's so catchy and adorable. ;;

About two years later, I've really gotten into the Beatles a lot more (as well as that RP partner I mentioned; she's now my fiancée and lives with me!). I have several favorite songs now depending on what my mood is, though. (And to be honest, I'm a sucker for the Love mixes, particularly Within You Without You/Tomorrow Never Knows and Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite!/I Want You (She's So Heavy)/Helter Skelter.)

Some of my top favorites, however:
-Hey Bulldog, because that piano riff, holy crap.
-The Inner Light. I loved when George started getting more into kirtans and 'meaningful' songs that reflected his growing obsession interest in Eastern philosophy. This is the only song of his that I can think of that's decidedly based on the Tao, though. (Also holy crap, while looking up on Youtube a video with that song, I found out there's an episode of The Next Generation titled that. Might have to watch that sometime.)
-While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Anthology/demo version; acoustic guitar). This version is so beautiful, and if anyone on my flist is interested, George Martin actually wrote accompanying string parts for this song's inclusion in the Love soundtrack, the only example of new material in the entire show. That version can be found here.

Other songs I really enjoy include Happiness Is A Warm Gun, Yer Blues, I'll Follow The Sun, I've Just Seen A Face, and honestly a crapton more. I'll admit to disliking pretty much the entire Rubber Soul album however, which I think counts as a blasphemic act in some Beatles fan circles. And to be completely honest: I'm generally more a fan of George's music than the Beatles as a whole entity. ;)

If any of my flisties want more suggestions for Beatles songs, just ask? xD
Star Trek ♣ Jadzia LOL

Writer's Block: Going boldly

If you could be any Star Trek character, who would you be, and why?

LOL So LJ wrote a question for me, how sweet! -shot-

Uhm at the moment, I'd definitely go with Jadzia Dax (of DS9; yes, I'm a proud Niner ♥), because especially considering my interest in souls/reincarnation as of late, I'd really like to have multiple lives to look back on and gather wisdom from, even if only to experience it for a few hours/whatnot. She's also at about the muscular mass that I'm shooting for currently, namely in the arms, so...y'know, it'd save me some trouble. -shot- SHE'S JUST SO GODDAMN FIERCE. I MEAN GODDAMN.

I will gladly turn this into a picspam should any of my flist happen to be Trekkies.

Side note: I actually currently roleplay as her (as well as two others) in a roleplay comm on this site. x3 (Said comm is now abandoned except for me and infuturetense but holy shit is it still a blast. ;__________; ♥)
Pic ♣ Waffles

In Defense of Food

I've been reading Michael Pollan's "In Defense of Food" for the past two days now (it's under 200 pages, but I'm both an easily-distracted reader, as well as a woefully slow one) and it's amazing - thanks a helluva lot, Eli, for recommending it. xD This was actually exactly the sort of thing I had been looking for (and the huge amount of history in it was a great bonus).

I'd recommend it to anyone interested in learning about the perils/follies of the Western diet.
Pic ♣ Tea

Tea, anyone?

So, I've got six little packets of the tea in the picture - decaffeinated black tea flavored with orange and 'spices'. I've had it and didn't like it, but Bigelow brand teas keep putting them in my tea boxes as a sampler, so I've got these saved up. xD Rather than throw them out, does anyone on my flist want them? :3
