WTF Is THAT Cosplay?

Kevin Lillard, aka, the one who runs Fansview.com, had a heart attack at this past Ohayocon. He's in stable condition and he is recovering, thankfully. And the attendees at Ohayo actually donated over $300 to help pay for flowers and I think some of the medical bills

I know WTFCosplay is for eyeburning or awe inspiring costuming, but this man is integral to the very history of cosplay (his site dates back to 1997 with numerous cons databased). In addition, he's just an all around nice guy. Please, keep him in your thoughts/prayers/etc...it's just not a con without Kevin..

And if he does come out and about again on the con circut (which he should), be sure to thank him for what he does and, give the guy a hug. He freakin' deserves it.

Also, COSPLAYFUCKS.NET is down, but don't worry, that place is safe. Our web host just sucks balls, but it'll be back. I have some ideas for some new hosts to check out so we can make the site better.

Currently I've just transferred over the bulletin board that I've been hosting for the past few weeks at cosplayfucks.guardian-hyuga.net. Now that just redirects to the new site, yea.

Anyways, we're still working on setting up an LJ-like site, but in the meantime come and enjoy the forum and the fuckery.

Damn you guys, and just when we were getting fired up again.
I've thrown up a phpBB board on my personal server. I should be able to handle the bandwidth (as avatars still will have to be hosted by yourself) but if not, well, I'll see what we can do.

In the meantime, hopefully, cosplayfucks.net should be in the works. Anyways, come to this new forum, because it should be able to serve as a base until cosplayfucks.net happens--and nobody can kick us off of here. on_san, michichu, and kasaii can have admin status when they create accounts, and I'll just stay back as a shadow admin.

What do you guys think? I know it sucks to be starting all over yet again but...it's something...

I'm not really one to rip on other cosplays. I mean, there have been plenty of times I've THOUGHT to myself that a cosplay looks crappy, but I don't usually voice these thoughts in public.

That being said, I'm currently working on a cosplay of Lady Subaru from .hack//SIGN. In my quest to find the perfect light greeny-blue for her dress, I've only really come across one particular fabric that has the exact color I want. Unfortunately, this fabric is bridal satin.

Now, having heard people talk about satin as though it were the bubonic plague of cosplay, I decided to get some opinions on whether satin would be appropriate for Subaru or not. The opinions were roughly divided into the "Satin is Satan" camp, and the "Bridal Satin should be ok" camp.

I had all but decided to order the bridal satin, thinking "Well, Subaru is a very girly costume. Satin should be ok, right?" But a particle of doubt kept me from hitting the "order" button.

Yesterday, on a whim, I did a search on Cosplay Lab for other Subaru costumes. Lo and behold, there were several made out of satin, and ho-lee-shit.

In a way, I owe these brave women much gratitude, for they have saved me from ridicule and shame, and have spared the eyes of any who gaze upon a photograph of my future costume.

I don't want to insult anybody. Hell, my cosplay suck even, so I'm pretty much dissing myself. Maybe I'll post pics of my own for people to poke fun at. XD That's always fun.

Seriously, have any of us ever went on some cosplayfucked person's private LJ and harrassed em? I havent >_> Heck I was even posted on Cosplayfucks on more than one occassion, but do I care? No. It's all in good fun! Just like Dennis Leary or Robin Williams making a racial joke . Lighten up people! It's not like we're banging on your door, throwing rocks at you, and other horrid things just for your imperfect cosplay.

Cause this community baleetion has just got to end.
