accents usually don't translate well in dubbing so the German dub of "Tabula Rasa" mostly marked Englishness through poshness and food which I could probably write an entire essay about alone but nancy boy also didn't translate well so they went with a pretty direct contemporary word and the dialogue in that episode pretty much boils down to "I like mint sauce" "welcome to the faggot club"

Castilian Spanish doesn't use any slurs in the dub (although the subtitles use the equivalent for queen/diva) and Englishness is based entirely on clothing.

LatAm calls the English accent "feminine" but that's neither here or there. German most homophobic dub 💯💯💯

So many people who were conservative, or were raised conservative can find their own way to leftist views, but cannot let go of being taught liberals and Democrats are beneath contempt. They can move away from their upbringing to a point. The world would very literally be a better place if they could unlearn that Democrats are the ultimate enemy. The final boss. Had a dream about DS9 and there had been some kind of incident where a Changeling had been discovered in Quark's and around the same time a Bajoran kid had suffered an anaphylactic reaction while eating a new lemon flavored spice pudding. there was no actual correlation but this led to a B plot where there was general hysteria about "Changeling allergies" and Sisko was trying to push back against it after hearing rhetoric flying around like "Changelings are willfully risking human and Bajoran lives just by being present on the station, since their presence poses a deadly allergen threat to an unknown number of people." all of which was mostly directed at Odo of course as the only permanent known Changeling presence on the station. and there's certainly something Star Trek-like about such a plot, about how misinformation surrounding legitimate fears can so easily become a witch hunt targeting those who are already vulnerable, but also I'm cackling at the image of Quark gleefully putting up posters like
