the full triple drabble

“Dealing with all kinds of weirdos in this family makes me tired,” Cui Dongdong complains, rolling her eyes as she slurps another mouthful of noodles.

“You’re a weirdo,” Xia Liuyi says, sticking out his tongue at his adopted cousin. Next to him, Xia Xiaoman digs into his ribs with her elbow.

“So rude,” she scolds, even as she’s smothering a giggle. Her eyes meet Cui Dongdong’s, almost sharing a wink, and Cui Dongdong’s heart goes all mooshy. So annoying. She can feel her cousin’s amusement from where he’s sitting by the window, but whatever. Qinglong has less than a leg to stand on.

Later on, she doesn’t forget to tease him about it.

“Are you just going roll around in your one-sided pining drama for the rest of your life,” Cui Dongdong says, swinging her legs as she sits on his pretentious desk, her heels kicking the drawers with a satisfying thud each time, “or are you actually going to do something about it?”

Because Cui Dongdong? She has plans. And her plans don’t involve Xia Liuyi still somehow imagining that his sister is nursing a one-sided crush on Qinglong, of all the unreasonable things.

Qinglong just sighs, like the useless cousin he is, and Cui Dongdong would totally abandon him to his complete failure of a romantic life if it wasn’t so personally inconvenient. Whatever. Cui Dongdong needs to refresh her eyes with a glimpse of her darling.

“So when are you finally going to agree to go out with me?” she says, sneaking an arm around Xia Xiaoman’s shoulders. Xia Xiaoman eyes her, but doesn’t shrug her arm off.

“I’m not convinced yet,” Xia Xiaoman says, not looking at her, but the corner of her mouth is soft and Cui Dongdong is definitely getting somewhere.

Take that, Qinglong.

Writing a SixTONES × Not Me the Series AU, and this snippet blindsided me. I guess spoilers for Episode 12?
To summarize: Ryutaro refuses to carry his guilt alone and confesses to a past misdeed. Jesse chooses restraint he never owed. Shintaro asks for mercy, knowing exactly what it will cost.
