The situation: the water pump for our goldfish pond wasn’t working. We plugged it in for the season and no water ever came out the filter on top of the pond. What could cause this?
What we established: the power point was good, because we could plug something else in and it worked. The pump was good, because we could dig it out of the water and it would spray water loose into the world. The hose was good, because we could pull the end of it off the filter and spraw water loose into a slightly higher-up part of the world. The nozzle into the water filter was accessible only by opening a cover that had so many little worms and bugs and those ants that look like leggy dots and are all over the place and oh it’s gross it’s gross oh oh no it’s not good. Oh but the end of the nozzle inside didn’t have anything clogging it up.
Put this all back together, though, and it works! What was the problem? Was I not spending enough time with it holding the big pliers and being annoyed? Because there are a lot of things in this house I can be near while holding the big pliers and being annoyed and none of them are working.

‘Tis a puzzlement.

Sometimes houses and yards just want you covered in muck a while, I suppose is the thing.
