Yūma Kuga 2 (空(く)閑(が) 遊(ゆう)真(ま) ➁ Kuga Yūma 2 ^?) is Chapter 3 of the World Trigger Manga.

Short summary

Osamu stands up to the bullies again, and Yūma scares them away. Yūma tells everyone he grew up in a war zone. An abnormal gate opens up and sends out two Neighbors to attack the school.

Long summary

The next day, during lunch at school, Osamu tells Yūma not to tell people that he is a Meighbor and not to use his trigger. Replica agrees, saying that there would be nothing to gain by attracting Border's attention. Just then, the bullies come and tell everyone on the roof that they must pay a fee of 500 yen(~5 USD) for using the roof. Osamu stands up and tells them to stop screwing around. The leader of the bullies knocks him down with his crutch. Yūma asks Osamu if the bullies had a short memory, as they seemed to have no memory of yesterday's events, and Osamu tells Yūma that people taken under the "protection" of Border have their memories wiped to protect secret information. Yūma then asks if it would be wrong to "send them flying", and Osamu replies yes. Yuma stomps his foot on the ground, sending a shockwave through the ground, which triggers the leader's memory of his foot being broken. Startled, he and the others let everyone go when Yūma asks them to get out of the way.

This earns Yūma the attention of his classmates, standing out despite Osamu's instructions, and they ask him about his background and where he is from. Yūma explains he is from a place with a lot of war, and Osamu realizes that sort of environment shaped Yūma into who he is today. Their classmates ask if Yūma knows about the Neighbors, and Yūma lies that he does not, so they tell him about the First Large-Scale Invasion. Yūma wonders why everyone seems so relaxed, and Miyoshi explains that it is because of Border. When he wistfully says he wishes to join Border too, Yūma almost reveals Osamu is a Border agent, only to be pulled aside before he can. Osamu reveals his status as an agent is a secret. Yūma questions why he, a Border agent, is associating with him, a Neighbor. Osamu says he thinks Yūma is different, but if Yūma makes one wrong move, he will turn him into Border. Yūma realizes that he was lucky to meet someone like Osamu.

Just then, a Gate opens right outside the school, outside the danger zone. Two Marmods emerge and started to attack the school. Everyone evacuates safely, except for the South Wing, as they are cut off by one of the Marmods. Outside, Yūma asks Osamu what he is going to do. Osamu pulls out his Trigger and replies that he will hold the Neighbors back.
