Hey there. I thought I had a complete set of WD Counter cards, but somewhere I noticed that there was one for Lunar: SSSC. Anyone have a spare? Also looking for a Nall doll.
In case you're not sure what i'm talking about, A Counter card is just a small standee that well... sits on a counter.
And in case anyone is wondering what ones are out there, I own one for Lunar: EBC, Growlanser Generations and Arc The Lad Collection.
Thanks!
For all you Dragon Force fans, rumour has it that WD is going to publish the Sega Ages 2500 version of DF in the US. I think it's scheduled to release in Japan by the end of 2004, so WD would probably officially announce its plans soon if it had any. I can't wait to see it at E3 for the next seven consecutive years, and can wait even less for 2048 when it finally hits shelves.
My only gripe, albeit a big one, with WD's work is the raping and pillaging of a game I hold very dearly, Silhouette Mirage. I have always appreciated WD's unique brand of localization, but am totally against the drastic and fatal gameplay changes made to this originally incredible title. Mirage aside, I have nothing but love for the small-but-strong publishing house and will continue to support WD's outstanding work.
-rich.
PS - The Lucia pendant is arguably the best (American) game pack-in of all time.
Hey All.
I can't believe I randomly stumbled upon this!! I found this through rpggoddess' userinfo (which I got through the anime community).
I always thought that I was the only person who even knew about Working Designs! Out of my friends, only one of them (who is probably the only person I know that has played more video games than I have) has even mentioned ANY of WDs games!
I just want to say that I've played over 100 RPGs, mainly console RPGs between 1990 and 2000, including many rare ones, but Lunar is one of the very, very few RPGs I have played more than once. I played Lunar 1 completely four times (only found out that there are treasures hidden behind buildings the fourth time I played), Lunar Eternal Blue only once (didn't like it as much), Vay probably about three times and Popful Mail a couple of times also.. I never play games more than once.
As a true RPG addict, and as a programmer hoping to one day land a job making games, I must say that the Lunar series is the best (in my opinion) series from a game design point. The characters are all very diverse and regulalry upgrade (Mia's never-ending list of spells, Alex's gain of dragon abilities); sadly most RPGs today don't realize that it is imperative to change your characters' abilities to provide new experiences while you're playing the game to avoid monotiny. The story had some interesting twists without being overly complex (see FFTactics for too complex). The graphics were ahead of its time, and voice is always cool. The music is absolutely amazing.. the march song played when you enter the new continent (after you get Kyle) was one of the first songs I downloaded when I had the Internet. I'm only disappointed at how much they great RPG got butchered when it was ported over to PS1.
Right now I'm finishing Arc The Lad 2.. absolutely amazing again. I love it. The convert option is great (also done with Suikoden and a few other series.. Quest For Glory for PC..) and I love that the enemies go past level 99!
Anyways, that's it for now, I hope one day WD can get the popularity they deserve, and don't succumb to the current trend in RPGs to become graphics oriented at the expense of game play.
