Two years ago this guy introduced a different gender affirming care ban that passed the Senate and would have passed the House if the bill hasn't been introduced so late and they had not run out of time.

Do not take this lightly. With the GOP's emphasis on trans people during the election, the Democrats completely discarding us, and how early this bill has been introduced, this will pass. I have no doubts in my mind.

My friend is working on a Google doc for trans people with info about gender name changes, what is required to move to different countries, diy etc. we could use people's help to add to it. Like a safety guide. I believe you can add whatever you want as a suggestion and they can approve it.

I don't know anywhere else that's trying to consolidate everything into one place. If you do please share that info as well.

oh wait jesus christ. so previously it was "snooze tumblr live for 7 days." now it's "snooze tumblr live from your dashboard" for 30. i got excited when i saw that it was at least a month (still bullshit when what we are all asking for is GET RID OF IT FOREVER), then irritated when it didn't get rid of it in the bottom bar on the app but i assumed it was a bug, and now im starting to realize like. is it not a bug. are they trying to pass this off as some kind of tradeoff of "the little thirst trap icons go away for a whole month, but now you can NEVER get rid of the 'NEW' notification at the bottom! :D" bc if so. i am going to fucking turn myself inside out

they are saying this is so that even if you want to have tumblr live snoozed, you can still use tumblr live without unsnoozing it!!! (???) i'm sure that maybe they are just somehow misunderstanding what we want snoozing tumblr live to actually do, rather than this being a malicious attempt to either force people to misclick or wear us down by irritating us with a false notification until we finally give up and agree to the privacy terms of the thing. maybe we should leave some feedback about it instead

hey why is tumblr becoming unusable on all ways to access the site

on mobile (and for reference i haven't even updated in months) you can't turn off tumblr live, can't double tap to zoom, the video player can take you somewhere completely unrelated if you don't commit a series of hyperspecific acts to exit it. ads take up the entire screen, music pauses randomly, it turns my phone hotter than the sun after fifteen minutes

on desktop i need an entire user-created extension to even access the site i'm used to. adblockers to hide the main issue, inspect element to hide literally the most annoying ad campaign i've ever had the issue of seeing for maybe thirty seconds (which has happened Twice now), can't message half the time without panic refreshing to make sure i actually got the message that they sent. defaulting to the for you tab for new users.

OH OH I have a bit more info for this! I got this from a discord that I'm in, to give resources and to help folks with phone anxieties there's a full resource sheet with numbers to call and scripts to follow. These bills have been stopped before and its SO SO important to keep the phones off the damn hooks

DASHBOARD UNFUCKER V1.0

as 90% of desktop users have probably found out, today @staff released an update that for some insane reason COMPLETELY remodels the dashboard to replicate twitter's. this is of course in the wake of numerous other thoroughly hated changes and a continued refusal to fix any of the site's actual problems, half of which stem directly from site management.

HOWEVER, thanks to the power of jQuery, i was able to throw together a userscript that remodels the dashboard back to its original look almost perfectly.

it's hardly perfect; i had trouble making it force reload to the fixed layout when switching between other pages and the dashboard, and it currently only fixes just the dashboard. it's also completely untested on browsers other than firefox, and chances are it looks a bit screwy on ultrawide monitors. but for now at least, it's a good fix.

the unfucker is a tampermonkey userscript. all you have to do to use it is install the tampermonkey extension, hit "create new script", and replace the default code on the page with the script (link here) and save it.

if you search a tag on someone's blog on the mobile app it will show you only a selection of posts in an inscrutably random order but if you go to a mobile browser and type [blog url].tumblr.com/tagged/[tag] you will get all posts on that blog with that tag in reverse chronological order. if you add /chrono behind it you get them in regular chronological order. naturally this works in desktop browsers too but i know many people are mobile only these days and the app's built in tag search is shit so this knowledge is vital to your survival

Kentucky criminalizes insulting the police

Totalitarian horror/inevitable lawsuit regarding free speech in the US run by the ACLU aside, there's a deep irony to this one.

Nothing says more about the toughness of the police of Kentucky than the passing of this law.

It's just wild to see how the whole legal and political system will protect a white person who murdered BLM protestors
