GW signature guitar

from Harmony Central:

January 27, 2005
Epiphone has looked to the Far East for their latest celebrity signing. Widely regarded as Japan's best rock 'n' roll band, Guitar Wolf have earned a huge national fanbase in recent years off the back of their incendiary shows and the virtuoso playing of lead guitarist Seiji. Following unprecedented interest in a guitar built to Seiji's specifications, this year will see the release of Epiphone's new G-310 electric. The bad news is: unless you're actually in Japan, you'll have to settle for this picture.

Available in Japan only, the G-310 is a rock 'n' roll thoroughbred at a rock bottom price. Its alder body is finished in moody ebony, with subtle dot inlays lining up on a rosewood fretboard and chrome hardware, completing a truly classic cosmetic package. Epiphone have put refreshing emphasis on simplicity too, with a tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar, keeping the restringing process fast and painless, while tough Grover Rotomatic tuners also promise an axe that can soak up the abuse. Seiji's vision wouldn't be complete without an aggressive pair of pickups, and Epiphone have duly supplied them in the form of two Alnico Classics.

Specifications:

Colours: Ebony
Pickups: Alnico Classic/HOT Alnico Classic
Tuners: Grover Rotomatic
Hardware: Chrome
Scale: 24.75"
Nut Width: 1.68"
Neck: Bolt
Neck Material: Mahogany
FB / Inlay: Rosewood/Dots

Bridge / Tailpiece: Tunomatic/Stopbar

I wonder if I can get them to ship one to the States...

ロックしてるぜぇ!!

Hey everyone!

While I was in Tokyo this summer I read that Guitar Wolf was going to keep going despite the horrible loss they had suffered. They released a compilation album in July and then a single, I believe. Just Seiji and Toru on that release. The article also mentioned that they were going to try to find a new bassist.

Well, looks like they've found him. UG, the new bassist, a 19 year old from Shimane who hadn't picked up an instrument before joining apparently has the stuff to join our heroes on their rock'n roll mission!

an article on the subject here (english)

Also, you can visit their official site to see a picture of the new line up right on the splash page.

Though I'm not overly fond of the new guy's name, I'm willing to see what Guitar Wolf has in store for us. Also, I'm super excited about the prospect of a world tour! Perhaps I will be fortunate enough to be showered in Seiji's sweat once again? Who knows?

Anyone ever had Wild Zero parties with the drinking game on the DVD? It's a great time, especially if you have a bunch of friends who have never seen it. I won't rest until everyone I know has seen Wild Zero. Since I got the DVD, I've converted at least 25.

Seiji's Response

This is never easy. Please excuse me if I start making no sense. Hideaki Sekiguchi, AKA Billy, has left this world this morning, due to a heart attack at the age of 38. Billy was a brother, one of the wolf pack. He rocked harder than anybody in the room, and I would feed off that energy. He was a great friend, and I can't really do him justice when I'm like this. He was too young to go, he still had some rock let in him. Lately Billy was acting a little odd, he said nothing was wrong. That's just like him too, the hardass. God damn it. Some of you may have had the chance to meet Billy, you know how awesome he really was. I just can't believe it, he was there from the beginning. I know Billy's up in heaven rocking out, keeping all those mother fuckers up at night. I bet he'll start a band with Joey Ramone and Elvis. He would love that.

Sorry guys, but all shows are now cancelled. I hope you understand. Please don't flood us with letters/e-mail asking us when we will continue. I just don't know what I'm gonna do now. It was always me and Billy. He would want me to keep rocking, and I just might. Anyway, I've got lots of stuff to do, and think about. I love you Billy, god speed you.

In Memory of Billy

From Guitar Wolf's Message Board:

"We regret to inform you that Hideaki Sekiguchi, a.k.a. Billy/Bass Wolf has passed away by heart attack in the morning of March 31st., at the age of 38."

I saw what might have been his last show!

Ahh, it's such a damned shame. This is one Rock & Roll cliche I can do without. Why is it that Steven Tyler still lives and the good ones die? It's a tragedy.

I have a video of his last performance and the smashing of his vintage fender bass. I guess he knew what was coming... somehow.

R.I.P. Billy, you bad ass motherfucker. I hope you're in a better place.
