- This article is about the Warp Star as an Air Ride Machine. For Warp Stars in a more general context, see Warp Star.
The Warp Star (also referred to as a Warpstar) is a star-type Air Ride Machine that appears in Kirby Air Ride and Kirby Air Riders. It is considered to be the most balanced and basic of all vehicles in these games, with no major strengths or flaws. It is the only machine available by default in the Air Ride mode of Kirby Air Ride, one of three machines available by default in Air Ride and Top Ride in Kirby Air Riders, and the only machine the player starts with in Road Trip in Kirby Air Riders.
Appearance[edit]
The Warp Star, as it appears in Kirby Air Ride, is flat, and lays parallel with the ground; hovering only a few inches in the air. Its five-pronged points are relatively round, in comparison with varied other machines. The two points nearest the rear are equipped with five small white propulsion units, which appear to give the machine its forward thrust, expelling what seems to be some form of white-blue gas.
In Kirby Air Riders, the Warp Star is redesigned slightly. Two of its propulsion units are now turquoise turbines, while the others are also metallic and turquoise, though they no longer produce exhaust. The aforementioned turbines still expel white-blue emissions while the vehicle is in motion, though they now glow red and produce red trails when the player holds the boost button. While the Warp Star moves, each engine emits a long white trail behind itself. Additionally, streams of air can be observed from the two outmost points of the Warp Star while it is traveling through the air. The texture of the Warp Star itself is also somewhat more mechanical, and faint white spots can be observed traveling from the midsection of the vehicle down to its rear.

Mechanics[edit]
The Warp Star is classified as a "star". As such, it hovers above the ground during normal movement, and is capable of gliding when airborne. It also must be braked to touch floor switches and other panels.
In terms of the Warp Star's abilities, it is basically balanced in every area, being able to adequately perform all necessary functions of an Air Ride Machine. Compared to the entire roster of machines, however, it has a slightly lower-than-usual top speed of about 25 mph (40.3 km/h), and slightly better-than-usual gliding and handling capabilities.
How to unlock[edit]
In Air Ride, this is the only machine available from the start, and does not need to be unlocked through the checklist.
In City Trial, the Warp Star can occasionally be found randomly throughout the city, and mounted like most other air ride machines. It is always available in Free Run as well.
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse[edit]
In this game, the Warp Star appears as an icon in the Music Room that represents the Kirby Air Ride music tracks.
Super Kirby Clash[edit]
Artwork of Kirby riding the Warp Star appears as a Sticker purchasable from Magolor's Shoppe. It costs 20 Gem Apples and is unlocked from the start. The caption for the sticker reads "Let's go!"
Kirby's Dream Buffet[edit]
In Kirby's Dream Buffet, artwork of the Warp Star is depicted on a Character Treat.
Kirby Air Riders[edit]

The Warp Star reappears as one of the Air Ride Machines that can be used in Kirby Air Riders, once again being a star-type machine that is balanced in every aspect. When ridden by Kirby, its top speed on the ground is 26 mph (42 km/h), with its air speed reaching up to 30 mph (49 km/h). It also can glide reasonably well, more so than many other machines in the game.
Its relatively even statistics cause the Warp Star to fit a "jack-of-all-trades" role, where it does well at a variety of Stadiums but is rarely the most optimal option for any of them. Its versatility is its greatest strength, as its gliding abilities allow it to do well in Target Flight, Skydive, and—to a lesser extent—Air Glider and High Jump. It also performs well in handling-focused Stadiums, such as Button Rush and Gourmet Race. While riding around Skyah, it is good for Patch collection, as it has solid handling, and its flight capabilities allow it to reach higher areas many machines simply cannot. It also can survive more encounters than many other machines with the ability to fly, meaning it does not sacrifice as much safety by comparison. In Air Ride, its average stats allow it to do reasonably well on most courses, though it will often be outclassed by more specialized vehicles.
How to unlock[edit]
The Warp Star is available to use in all modes at the start, but there are also Checklist tasks that unlock copies of the machine that can have different My Machine designs.
- Air Ride: Nebula Belt (Laps) - Finish in 1st place
- Top Ride - Finish after getting 10 different kinds of items
More copies can be purchased from the Miles Shop, with each costing 3,200 Miles.
The Warp Star is also the first machine the rider can use in Road Trip, as it is unlocked by default.

In the Kirby novel series[edit]

In the Kirby novel series, the Air Ride Machine version of the Warp Star appears in Kirby: Big Race in Pupupu Land!, where it is Kirby's vehicle of choice. It is shown to be ordinary compared to the other machines, and it has no special characteristics.
In Kirby: Big Race in Pupupu Land!, the Warp Star is one of the last vehicles chosen by the racers, due to how ordinary it looks. Kirby and Waddle Dee are the last ones to choose their vehicles, and Kirby chooses the Warp Star. As he gets on, the Warp Star emits a mysterious light, showing that Kirby is a great match for it. Unlike the other contestants, Kirby is able to maneuver his machine with perfect control. Much later in the race, Mr. Frosty angrily attacks Kirby as revenge for inhaling him earlier, throwing lumps of ice at him. One lump of ice hits the Warp Star, breaking it. Mr. Frosty leaves as Kirby notices a shady man walking by, and calls for help. Meta Knight arrives too, thinking the shady man is up to no good. The shady man introduces himself as Kurron, and explains his true good intentions for investigating the race. Afterwards, a cry for help is heard in the forest, and Kirby gets on his Warp Star, only to realize that it is still broken. Kurron uses magic to instantly repair it back to how it was before and then the three fly to the forest at a rapid speed.
