The Nintendo Switch 2 is a ninth-generation hybrid video game console released worldwide on June 5th, 2025. It is the successor to the Nintendo Switch.
The Nintendo Switch 2 largely iterates on the preceding console, but introduces new features such as voice chat and Joy-Con 2 controllers with mouse functionality. It is backwards compatible with nearly all Nintendo Switch games, and certain Nintendo Switch games have received "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" expansions that enhance their performance and sometimes add new content. In addition, user accounts and Nintendo Switch Online benefits carry forward from the previous console, and some Nintendo Switch Online features are exclusive to this console.
