Miiverse
Miiverse is a now-defunct social networking service made by Nintendo that was integrated into the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. It was initially announced prior to E3 2012 and was integrated into the Wii U at launch. A website version was released in April 2013, and it was added to the Nintendo 3DS via a system update in Japan, North America, Europe and Australia on December 9, 2013. Miiverse was shut down on November 8, 2017 (November 7 in some time zones). Every game released on Nintendo 3DS or Wii U prior to the shutdown on November 2017 had a Miiverse community (including all Kirby games and all Virtual Console rereleases), and some games had Miiverse integration. No Kirby games had extensive Miiverse integration, but Kirby: Planet Robobot, Team Kirby Clash Deluxe and Kirby's Blowout Blast each have an in-game button that gave access to their respective Miiverse communities. As Miiverse was never made available on Korean and Chinese Nintendo 3DS systems, Miiverse integration was removed from games that were released in those regions.
Special Miiverse communities[edit]
In addition to communities for each game, there were also some special announcement communities made for the developers of the Kirby series to post behind-the-scenes info. Only Nintendo and HAL Laboratory representatives could post on these communities, but anyone could comment on their posts. All posts were posted by Satoshi Ishida, but he most of the time quoted other developers on his posts. For most Kirby: Planet Robobot posts, series director Shinya Kumazaki also posted some official comments directly.

Trivia[edit]
- The North American and Japanese versions of the Kirby Fighters Deluxe / Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe community used the Kirby Fighters Deluxe icon, but the European one used the Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe icon.
- Kirby Battle Royale holds the record for having a Miiverse community for the shortest amount of time of all first-party games, with the European version releasing on November 3rd, 2017, and Miiverse discontinuing less than a week later.
