Capillers[1], otherwise known as Caterpillars, Worms, or Bugs, are an uncommon hazard that appear in some Kirby titles. They are small worm-like creatures with yellow and brown stripes on their bodies and two giant beady eyes on one end. If Kirby attempts to inhale them, he will take damage, so they must be avoided or hit with an attack instead.

Kirby Super Star[edit]
Capillers first appear in Kirby Super Star as projectiles dropped by Twin Woods during some of their attacks in addition to Gordos and Apples.
Kirby Super Star Ultra[edit]
In Kirby Super Star Ultra, Capillers appear in a more prominent role than the original game. Besides being dropped by Twin Woods, they also appear in the Snack Tracks Sub-Game, where they may appear on the conveyor belts, either alone or inside Maxim Tomatoes. The player will need to flick them off using the Nintendo DS stylus to prevent Kirby from eating them.
Additionally, in the "Dyna Blade" segment of the Special-Edition Blooper Reel, a Capiller lands on Kirby while he's napping instead of an apple, causing him to panic and then faint.
Lastly, in Revenge of the King, giant purple Capillers called Jumbo Capillers[Japanese title] are dropped by Whispy's Revenge.
Team Kirby Clash, Team Kirby Clash Deluxe & Super Kirby Clash[edit]
In the Kirby: Planet Robobot Sub-Game Team Kirby Clash, its standalone deluxe version and its sequel, Whispy Woods appears as a boss. In all three iterations, he may drop Capillers from his canopy, though since the Kirbys cannot inhale in these games, they are no different from apples in function here.
Kirby Star Allies[edit]

In the Chop Champs minigame, Capillers make up the main hazard on the logs. They may shift back and forth while the log comes down, and will not harm Kirby if they are shifted back. Otherwise, Kirby will be temporarily halted if a Capiller hits him.
One Capiller that occasionally winks also appears on the icon for the Chop Champs minigame itself.
Kirby Fighters 2[edit]
In Kirby Fighters 2, Capillers are once again dropped by Twin Woods alongside their Gordos and Apples. Here, they are given their current name from Twin Woods' pause screen caption starting in Chapter 3 onwards.
Additionally, the Staff ability has a Rare Hat based on Whispy Woods, with the staff itself taking on the appearance of a wooden stick with a Capiller on it.
Trivia[edit]
- According to several official profiles about Kirby, one of his least favorite things is caterpillars, though it is not exactly clear why.[2][3] In the Special-Edition Blooper Reel of Kirby Super Star Ultra, Kirby thrashes wildly and then faints when a Capiller lands on his face, which suggests that he is afraid of them; official merchandise such as Find Kirby!! more concretely shows this, though this may not necessarily be considered canon to the games' continuity.
