Plan to Edit.
editHello, I have noticed that this article can benefit from slight modifications so that it strays away from biases of the pin-up model. I will be working on this webpage for the next couple of weeks for a class. Some aspects are flagged by Wikipedia, due to it's wording of personal essay life features and am really interested in making changes to this Wikipedia page so that it is more informative rather than argumentative. I would also like to make this article into a worldwide view, because this article leans towards the U.S and can be further explored in other areas of the world.
Feel free to give input and feedback over my future edits for the improvement of this Wikipedia page, if need be. Gooeyfishi5 (talk) 14:55, 24 September 2024 (UTC)
Worldwide view?
editThe article primarily focuses on pin-up's in the U.S during World War II. Is there any evidence of pin-up history anywhere else in the world? If there is, could we potentially include that history, or ideals in this page to represent a worldwide view? Gooeyfishi5 (talk) 16:26, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- It does seem to be a Western thing. For an early example see above the remark on Charles Dickens's Bleak House in 1850. For an even earlier example, you could research the erotic wall paintings and pictures in Pompeii AD79. You will need secondary references to include any such examples in the article. Meanwhile I will remove the tag. 109.155.0.165 (talk) 13:32, 19 October 2024 (UTC)
Biased POV on Feminism?
editI have noticed in the past of this talk page over the biased POV towards the Feminism section. I find that there are several words and phrases than lean towards feminism and present an argument that leans towards that ideal. But also, this article presents this argument and mentions lipstick as "a symbol of resilient femininity." I don't necessarily believe that it is important to note that in the "Hair and Makeup" section and would want to know how that fits into the article overall. But, it also comes from an unreliable source?
Should this be fixed? Gooeyfishi5 (talk) 01:04, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
Pin-up art
editMost pages that deal with art are described in terms of genre. See, for instance, Erotic art, Erotic literature, and American burlesque.
Pin-up art is a notable exception. Most of what would be on it is here at Pin-up model and List of pin-up artists (to which Pin-up artists redirects).
I think that a lot of the content here would be better served by a Pin-up art page, and it would be possible it develop it in ways that aren't possible currently because the remarks would be irrelevant to Pin-up model. I'm interested in creating that page, but so much work went into this one that I wanted to get some feedback before I began. Any thoughts? Tioaeu8943 (talk) 15:33, 8 August 2025 (UTC)
