Hello fanfiction community,

Just wanted to bring to your attention that the term whump was actually coined by the Stargate fandom specifically to describe making this guy suffer. He is the original Mr. Whump (no that's not his actual name). That's how torturable this guy is.

Everyone say mean things about him.

Here is a non exhaustive list of what he goes through in canon btw:

  • His parents get crushed to death right in front of him when he is a kid
  • He is forced to relive the memory of his parents death countless times
  • He dies and gets resurrected
  • His wife gets possessed
  • He fails to save her and she dies in his arms
  • He dies and gets resurrected again
  • He gets infected by a virus that makes him act crazy and gets put in an insane asylum
  • He dies and gets resurrected again
  • His ex gets possessed
  • He is exposed to a lethal dose of radiation
  • He dies and ascends to a higher plane, then gets kicked out of the higher plane and his memory is wiped
  • He gets kidnapped by a princess
  • He gets kidnapped by a fish alien
  • He gets kidnapped and tortured by some terrorists
  • He gets kidnapped and tortured by another alien
  • He is driven to insanity by an alien device
  • He dies and gets resurrected again
  • He dies and gets resurrected again

The one true character of all time, the suffering he must endure for us to be well fed. And I can't tell you how much this list cuts out, the SA, the other numerous deaths, the tortures, the addiction... He truly has done it all.

I like many yandere (except perhaps the extreme ones), but yandere who are good people and have morals are most attractive to me, they are horrified by their obsession with their loved one and try to contain their obsession for the sake of that loved one, but obsession still progresses, and it's a matter of time before morality wins out over dark desires. A bonus is if the loved one knows this and doesn't mind, so the yandere doesn't have to hide their true love from them

Yesss! The tension between guilt/shame and love/desire is always so delicious to me in any context. Wanting something and knowing it's 'wrong' is so so good, especially when the other person is encouraging them... It works really well for yandere type relationships.

good old "finding out how the other army treats their men" except it's through being a spy, not a prisoner.

one spy coming back like "the good news and the bad news is that we're fighting traumatised people who would probably fold at the sight of proper nutrition"

one who can't bring themselves to go back bc life is so good on the other side and the longer they wait the worse it'll be for them. one who 'loses' contact with command after a while.

(good) side being able to recognise the 183828 spies the other side is sending because duh. look at them they have big scared eyes and shake at the sight of a commanding officer. they eat like starving dogs. they can't walk past the infirmary without tearing up a little.

Whumpee being sexually assaulted by their crush leaving them deeply confused and emotionally torn. They still feel lingering love and attraction for them, yet they grapple with betrayal of being taken advantage of and self doubt.

Questioning whether they should have liked it or if their body’s reactions mean they somehow consented. Does that mean their crush likes them too if they wanted to have sex with them? That whumpee was so desirable that crush had to take them and hurt them cuz they just couldn’t help themselves.

In a twisted way, that idea makes whumpee feel wanted, that their feelings are requited.

Wanna know what's fun? A character who fits all three main roles in whump.

They are a whumper. They hurt a Whumpee without hesitation or restraint when ordered. They cause harm. Their hands firm and fast.

They are a caretaker. After the whump, they treat the injuries they caused and hold whumpee when they cry. They take care of whumpee. Their hands gentle and slow.

They are a whumpee. A well conditioned one under their whumper, who takes the bearings and manipulation. They receive harm until they're covered in scars. Their hands shake with pain.

A character who is all three. A vicious cycle they can never leave.

:)

I think the angst and whump potential of Bolt (2008) is terribly underutilized

no no ur right, keep going

That dog spent the vast majority of its life thinking his owner was in mortal danger. Emotionally, that dog is a combat veteran.

What would especially suck is he would probably feel embarrassed if he had any flashbacks or anything, because it wasn’t even real.

But the thing is, even if what was happening wasn’t real, that doesn’t mean his trauma isn’t.

Also, Mittens has plenty of trauma of her own. But something else with her is she is declawed— and to my understanding, declawing is now understood to be a terribly inhumane procedure because it can leave cats in pain for the rest of their lives.

Both Bolt and Penny would probably be terrified of fire and smoke now, too.

whumper's rules being so insidious and that they conditioned whumpee to fear normality. 'Pet' all the time but Whumpee's name during punishment. Always on their knees unless they were being lead somewhere Bad. Allowed to eat at a table only when they were about to be lent. Given permission to speak only when they're made to beg for punishment. Taking care of their wounds only as a way to hurt them.
