Summary: Humming to himself, he began to tap the number keys again.

Inuyasha glared at his textbook, trying to absorb the material in it. A notebook rested nearby, and he tapped impatiently at it with the eraser end of a pencil that he was gripping almost hard enough to snap. Now and then, he growled under his breath, eyes darting to the cause of his failure to concentrate.

At the other side of the room, his roommate, Miroku, seated on the edge of his bed, continued to croon lovingly into his phone.

"Of course, sweetheart," he murmured, voice dripping with faux affection. "I'll see you tomorrow afternoon; we'll have lunch between classes. Yes; yes, I'll be waiting. See you then."

He hung up. Before Inuyasha could breathe a sigh of relief, Miroku began to tap at the phone's buttons again. Soon, he was cooing again, to a different girl.

"Damn it," Inuyasha groaned, raking his hands through his hair as the aggravation coursed through him more strongly.

Meanwhile, Miroku continued to chatter, keeping Inuyasha distracted from his studies. Whether he was blatantly ignoring Inuyasha's frustration, or else just unaware of it, was impossible to determine.

"Of course, darling," he purred, sounding every bit as insincerely loving as with the previous girl. "I understand perfectly how disappointed you are. I'm sorry that I can't make lunch tomorrow; an emergency came up that I can't get away from for a while. I'll make it up to you tomorrow night. We'll go out to dinner after your last class of the day. Yes, I know that's a late class, but you're worth the wait. Yes, love. I promise, I'll be right there at your dorm room door, waiting for you. I'll see you then."

Once again, he hung up the phone. Humming to himself, he began to tap the number keys again.

"Damn it, no!" Rising from his desk, Inuyasha spun and flung his notebook at the back of Miroku's head. "I'm tryin' to study, here! Shut the hell up and lemme concentrate, will ya?! I've got an exam tomorrow that I gotta cram for, and you lyin' to all those girls ain't helpin' me!"

Not even mildly bothered by the impact of the notebook with his scalp, Miroku leaned down and picked it up from where it had landed on the floor post-collision. Gently, he tossed it across the room, to land with a soft plapp on Inuyasha's bed.

"Jealousy takes on many forms, some much uglier than others," he responded, his voice serene. "In your case, it seems to manifest through violence."

Oh, yeah. Miroku sounds like a terrible roommate. I don't blame Inuyasha for throwing that notebook. I'd have done the same. Thank you for participating again in this challenge!
