name change question

Hey guys,

I was wondering about taking my future husband's name. How does the name-change thing work? Does everything switch automatically when I get married, or do I have to go to the SSI office, my job, etc. to change my name over?

(no subject)

Does anyone else find that their cat drools on them?

We recently got a four year old, extremely affectionate cat who like to lie on us - for the first ten mins she likes to rub her mouth over us and there are bubble of clear saliva dripping out of her mouth. Is this normal?

Destination wedding in Colorado or Tennessee?

This is a pseudo-Progress post? Since I've done a lot of research? Although I haven't offically put anything together yet. But anyway...

After getting sticker-shock in any of the local venues' pricing, a smaller destination wedding looks more and more enticing. After all, neither of us are really a people person (I only have a few very good friends instead of lots of okay friends), and we are probably the only few here who are actually having trouble finding more people to invite.

So anyway, we (well, mostly I) have been researching some nice places to have a small destination wedding. Probably just family and a few friends. We are not interested in beachy/Caribbean/Hawaii type weddings, and Europe is a bit far and complicated. And we're not interested in Vegas either.

Here are the two choices I am considering so far. The approximate cost for each in total are pretty similar, as well as the distance from where we live.

Warning: lots of rambling/links/pics/etc behind the cut.

And so, it's such a hard choice! Now, I'm not looking for anyone to make the decision for me, but I'm just looking for input from anyone who has either married at either of those places, OR if you just live near those places and have visited or attended other people's weddings at those places, OR if you just visited either of those National Parks (or Estes Park and/or Gaitlinburg/Pigeon Forge), I would love your input/opinion!

Overall, I think Rockies have better scenery (from the pictures) and probably less crowded, but there is a lack of really great cabins to rent. The Smokies' cabins are very nice for the price. However, I've heard that Pigeon forge and gatlinburg have lots of tourist-traps and tacky souvenir/attractions that takes away from the Smokies, and that it is pretty crowded a lot of the time.

Note: We still haven't set an offical date yet but it looks like it won't be until late summer 2010, so we'll see.

So, any opinions/input? Thanks!

More dress goodness

Yes, I'm probably the most indecisive bride EVER because I still haven't found the one yet, but being frugal, if I drop hundreds of money on something I better damn well like it because it's not me to drop money on just anything, I'm too frugally logical in that way. That's why I can't imagine spending thousands of money (that we don't have) on a huge wedding when we can have a smaller one just as nice for a fraction of the cost. But anyway, back to dress shopping.

So anyway, today I tried on 3 maggies and an anjolique. I wanted to try on a few more maggies but they didn't have it so I made do with these.

Overall, I liked maggie's paigely and the anjolique for my shape best. The other two looked nice but a little overwhelming for my body.

Also, I was wondering if anyone has tried on or bought maggie sottero's brightyn, jd8103, or kameryn? I like those but the shop didn't carry them, so maybe I'll find another store to try them on, but for the time being, if anyone chose them, how did you like them, and if you have any pics of you trying them on? Thanks.

another wedding dress trip

On Sat we went to Davids, which I have been avoiding thus far, but it was a surprisingly pleasant experience, the salesgirl was pretty nice and helpful, and I tried on a lot of dresses. Most of them I didn't feel as if it fits me that well, but some were nice, although there are parts that I may have not liked as much.

Anyway, behind the cut are the NINE dresses I've tried on:

I think I liked 7 best, but I wish it was a little more sweetheart in the neckline, but I do like the corset look. 8 is a corset look too but I don't like the "slouchy" dress look. I also sorta liked the shape of 3, the bottom of 4, the lace up back but no the asymmetry of the front of 6.

Any opinions?
