Shadow Raiders/War Planets FanGroup

Greetings,

If anyone is listening...

I have been dredging the dark reaches of the web for War Planets info after I thought of them earlier this week. I had the Fire and Remora planets as a kid and LOVED them. Only one other kid I knew had the toys but he left school in 5th grade. I discovered the TV show upon some research today and was taken completely off guard. I had watched ReBoot as a kid a bit and played with the toys yet never heard of this. I am downloading the two seasons now and plan to watch em tonight. I will post impressions in the morning or maybe just live blog the series watch here. What the hell. Why not?

I'll provide soem backstory. The makers of the original warplanets toyline(they were called trendmasters) were so impressed with "Mainframe Entertainment's" TV series based on the old transformers beast wars toyline (which i think were made by matell) that they got in contact to make a war planets TV series which is the one that we all know and love. In a way, that little TV commercial started it all.

Is anyone aware that September 16th, 2013 will be Shadow Raiders' fifteenth anniversary?

I really kinda want to gather people and do something, it would be a bit depressing if it came and went and no one said a peep about it. :/

I'm going to make a conscious effort to update more often from now on. But probably only an episode a week. It takes me a rather embarrassingly long time to take screen caps. :P

Something I stumbled across on YouTube that might be of interest to somebody. A while ago isocz_sector posted videos and images from the Age of Chaos DOS game based on the original toyline.

Okay, so this is really awesome. Best SR fanvid I've seen by far.

Well, having just finished a complete rewatch of the series about a week ago, I naturally started trawling the internet for War Planets/Shadow Raiders goodness, and was delighted to come across the LJ community. :)

I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to point me in the direction of their favorite WP/SR fics, as I am absolutely dying to read some upon finishing the series. I do write a little fic myself as well, so perhaps sometime I can turn the lens onto this show.

Actually, I enjoy all the Mainframe/Rainmaker shows from this era, including ReBoot (finally a full boxset, yay!) and Beast Wars. I find it interesting to note that Rainmaker's bread and butter these days seems to be producing the Barbie movies. While those are not bad per se, I would love to see them return to making fully realized shows like they used to back in the 90s. Well, I can dream anyway.
