You’ve heard it before of course, maybe you’ve even written it before: it’s 1977 and the Dark Lord is in the midst of his meteoric rise to complete conquest. That’s right! This is Marauders Era RP, complete with the angst of your teen years, family drama, and bloodshed, essentially good times for all.
I won’t try to pitch this as some new concept, something that’s never been done before, because we all love Remus, James, Sirius, and Peter (well, maybe not so much Peter) and just tingle with curiosity over what their lives were like back during those dark times.
Here’s the setting: a line has been drawn in the sand, you’re either with us or against us. Both sides say severe things like that, urging people to follow their guidance, or lose out on the future. The messengers of the Dark Lord steal into the houses of Pure Bloods, whispering promises of glory and riches. They’ve been luring them with stories of future prosperity and power, slowly wooing them through reputation, and now the time has come; you need to decide where you stand and quick, unless you want to be trampled under foot by soldiers of war.
Children are greeted by the Ministry on their doorstep one day who are followed by the Deatheaters at night, both cramming ideals into their heads, persuasions, anything that might give their side the edge. These teenagers are left on their own to figure out where they stand. This is the decision that could change their lives and with those the lives of the entire Wizarding world, even the Muggle world.
