surprisingly forward-thinking of jim henson and co. to make a female character in the 70's that's allowed to be loud-mouthed and violent and kind of overwhelmingly romantic and even a huge bitch at times and not have a moment where any character asks her to change

going through all the muppet movies in a row made me realize that like. miss piggy was made in the 70's. and it's so rare even today to have a character like her. she's loud, she's selfish, she's funny, she's extremely vain, she's obsessed with romance, she's violent, she's kind of annoying, and there's not a single moment in any of these films where she's asked to tone down any of these personality traits. i am not joking when i say that miss piggy might be one of the best treated female characters ever written

"The Marriage of Froggo Amphibini and Giopiggi Porculini"

The June photo from Miss Piggy's Art Masterpiece Calendar 1984: Treasures from the Kermitage Collection.

Based on some analysis, one interpretation of the portrait is that Miss Piggy died giving birth, and this was a post-death portrait.

Over Miss Piggy's head there is no candle, and yet a lit one over Kermit. If this was a marriage, her hair would be down, however her hair is up, indicating she is already married, as unmarried pig women wore their hair down. In the back, on the mirror frame, there's little paintings from the life of christ, and Miss Piggy's reflection is shown on the side of the mirror lined with paintings of Jesus's death and resurrection. To add to this, they're shown in winter clothing, however outside it's clearly spring or summer. There's even a figure carved on the bedpost, of a saint that was supposed to promote childbirth/cure infertility.

Basically Miss Piggy's fucking dead.

Miss Piggy is an actress and a professional drama queen, as well as robustly well-educated on a variety of topics, especially art and culture; she would have engaged in this staged artistic recreation with full knowledge of "Porculini's" tragic demise. Look at the tender distance in her gaze as she looks wistfully past her IRL boyfriend Kermit. She's absolutely reveling in the understated tragedy.

This is a genuinely masterful piece of art and a completely unsurprising level of sophistication from Ms Piggy that anyone following her career would expect.
