For your pleasure

And, actually, mostly, for my own future reference:

Surinam toad:
The partners rise from the floor while in amplexus and flip through the water in arcs. During each arc, the female releases 3-10 eggs, which get embedded in the skin on her back by the male's movements. After implantation the eggs sink into the skin and form pockets over a period of several days, eventually taking on the appearance of an irregular honeycomb. The larvae develop through the tadpole stage inside these pockets, eventually emerging from the mother's back as fully developed toads, though they are less than an inch long.

If you open the image in a new window and maximize, you can see the little toad babies, hauling themselves out of the pockets in their mother's back.

My favorites are the one closest to the bottom and the three or four closest to the top. I mean, really I love them all equally and they are all unique individuals, each one special in its own way. But those ones amuse me the most.

Hey, wanna help me plan some meals?

This is what I have that's probably going to go bad soon:
asparagus
beet greens (blanched and chopped)
roasted beets
green onions
mixed salad greens
baby spinach
kohlrabi
yams

chevre
queso fresco
sour cream
half & half
Greek-style yogurt
eggs

Here's what I have that isn't going to go bad anytime soon:
couscous
quinoa
kidney beans
black beans
mixed veggies (frozen)

I also have an ok supply of staple ingredients.

Any ideas? I have a lot of beets and beet greens, more than I want to eat in one meal.

Some stuff I already have planned:
beet salad w/ chevre
potatoes mashed with beet greens
huevos rancheros (duh)
