Good luck, Yuu-san
Fujimaru accidentally discovers a new weakness of Oboro. Also on AO3.
Lying sideways on an armchair in their living room, Ren takes a drag out of her cigarette and lets her head fall backwards. Yukito is reading a manga in the other armchair, cute round glasses on his cute little nose. The corners of his mouth lift slightly, so it must be a fun one. She'll ask him about it later, when she won't be interrupting. On the couch, Jin and Yuushirou are arguing over the remote of all things. Though this could just be a proxy argument for whatever else they actually want or should discuss, but don't.
Smiling, Ren looks at the ceiling. They started living together supposedly because of a case, and now they still do because no one can pry them away from each other anymore. Shigure pretends it's good for teamwork, even though he's probably long guessed what kind of "teamwork" they've been deepening day by day.
"Now you've fucking done it, Yuu-san," Jin growls as he rises and looms over Yuushirou.
It shouldn't be possible to loom or tower over someone as tall as Yuushirou, but he makes it easy anyway. A chameleon, champion at making people underestimate him, and not really see him.
"What the hell?" Jin mutters. "What the fuck kind of reaction is that?"
Ren turns her head toward them, pressing her cheek against the armrest. Yuushirou looks like he's trying to crawl back into the couch, possibly even melt into it in order to get away from Jin, who has an arm on the backrest above him. Normally that should result in Yuushirou lifting his chin up and snottily getting all up in his face, too. This is different. That makes it interesting.
"It's the 'Yuu-san' isn't it?" Jin suddenly realises, voice dripping with disgust.
"No," Yuushirou replies too quickly, voice small. He seems to realise his mistake and shuts his mouth again.
Yuushirou looks cute. Nearly shy. His ears are redder than she's ever seen them. Ren wonders if it'll spread over the rest of his face. She wants to see. Fujimaru exchanges a disbelieving 'you seeing this?' glance with her before staring at the wall.
"I can't deal with this right now," he eventually decides. "I'm getting a drink."
Just as he disappears into the kitchen, a book snaps close. Cheek still against the armrest, Ren looks up as Yukito walks up to Yuushirou, who's pouting by himself on the couch now and pretending nothing unusual happened.
"Yuu-san," Yukito says.
Yuushirou's eyes widen as he slowly looks up. Yukito cups Yuushirou's cheek and holds him still as their faces get closer.
"Yuu-san," he repeats lovingly, fervently, before closing in for the kiss.
God, Yukito can be such a lethal weapon whenever the wheels of his mind spin that way. Yuushirou stands no chance. Pleadingly, he looks at Ren, but she just shakes her head. He's on his own here. Ren doesn't even dare to blink, hungrily watching the flush spreading over his face before he gives up, gives in, and closes his eyes.
A cold ring presses against her cheek. Jin's back and brought her a can of beer, too. He sets down two of the other three he's carrying beside the armchair, and pops open the third one for himself. Still shaking his head in disbelief, he takes a sip... though he's watching, too.
Meanwhile, Yukito curls up on the lap of a still flustered Yuushirou, and casually reopens his book. When Yuushirou looks at her, wide-eyed like a trapped animal, she blows an air kiss at him. He makes a pitiful little keening sound, and she cackles, louder when Jin returns to sit beside him with a calculating look in his eyes.
In her head, she thinks, 'Good luck Yuu-san' because she's nice enough not to say it aloud. Not yet, at least. She'll choose her moment right.
Did you enjoy? :D
