i need to buy a hat

Another 5-hours of practice in one day. ...damn! lol Dress rehersal went well tonight. Brandy & I get to play in the clarinet Masterclass tomorrow. I feel somewhat honored.

Oh yeah, thanks to Christian for "not" having a key. Oh, and Greg, if you read this, we need you to be the offical page-turn/guy who sets the stage. I'll call & give ya' details.

Ya' know, I have ten sections of Spanish due tomorrow...and I just don't care. By doing so, this will be the 3rd homework assignment that I've skipped out of nearly 30. So it can't be that bad. And if I get a "B," then...big deal. I'll still have a 3.9 GPA, biotch! :-P

Still alive.

Tues night

Interesting enough, as the weekend gets closer and closer, I'm getting more relaxed about this recital. I tend to have everyone's support. And for the most part, I'm feeling really confident with the music. I've got the Brahms pretty-much covered, AND Brandy & I played the entire Dahl duet for the first time through...ever tonight. It's there! Oh yeah, baby!!! So now all I gotta' do is patch-up the Sutermeister, and I'm good to go. Dress rehearsal's tomorrow night at 9:00. One step closer!!! Rawr

Also had a good "intermission" between classes earlier. I kidnapped Joe somewhere around 11:00 and went to meet Kira & Josh at Lenny's. Mmmm... came back to their house afterwards, played some Soul Calibur 3 while Josh & Joe took turns shooting Ki's bow&arrow in the backyard. Lots of fun. And I WANT SC3...my new character Tim is freakin' hot! And a kick-ass fighter! lol...ok, end of nerdy PS2 spill.

Tonight we had a little roommate bonding time. Brandy, Shane, & I all hit the new Chinese & Sushi Buffet tonight. Very filling. MuY BuEnO!!!

Other than that, life's pretty good. Just keep on truckin'

I'm now up to a grand total of 5 hours and 41 minutes of practicing clarinet today. That's a new record! Although I feel like I practically live at the FAB.

I should have plenty of time, especially with Marching Band being canceled all this week. I still can't believe we have to go to a Bowl game, and during Finals week for that matter! (so saith the rumor) Well, just goes to show you where USM really places a priority---hmm...sports or academics?

Also, for those of you who will not be able to attend the recital on Saturday, we're having a dress rehearsal on Wednesday at 3:00. Marsh (hopefully. we're turning in the reservation form tomorrow) Also, note to self: call Jorge about recording.

Wish us luck! Later biotches! :-P

spiff

So after 4 hr, 22 min of practicing today, I've got the Brahms pretty much performance-ready, minus nearly 4 lines in the 3rd Movement. Sutermeister is playable. And Dahl, well, I'll get back to that tonight. Yay! It's getting there, and I've got 5 days to put it together. No more nightmares, hopefully.

Although I've had two really fun dreams lately about an orange fish. Symbolism? weird subconscious.

Anyway, time to take a break. Probably order a few pizzas and watch the BRAND NEW episode of Family Guy tonight! Yay!!!

Call me later if you want to do something.

"band major" entry following:

Yay, i feel productive! So tonight I focused on the Sutermeister, which is THE piece that scares me half to death! Eek! Mostly b/c it's just me, unaccompanied...on an unfamiliar horn. And the fingers are spread out futher, so sometimes I can't nail all the runs. HOWEVER, tonight I ran down pages 1-2, and I'm pretty content. Like, not performance perfect, but if I played it on Saturday like I did tonight, then I would be satisfied. :-)

But I must go to bed soon. Have a lesson with Dr. Oakes at 12:00 and then another rehearsal with Betty at 3:00. blah blah blah, clarinet. blah-blah clarinet. clarinet clarinet clarinet. ...either next Saturday night or Sunday we'll have to have our next wild party to CeLeBrAtE!!!

On another note, talked to a psychologist/counselor for a good 30/40 minutes tonight. I feel slightly better.

Nothing new in the post-Thanksgiving world. The holiday was wonderful, and I spent all-day with my family & friends of the family. Yesterday evening we went to see a movie called Derailed. It was okay--kinda' scary, kinda' too realistic for me. About some scam artists. Could be a renter.
Last night Mom & I discussed finances and what-not. She encouraged me to invest more in my mutuals and said that if I continue to do so, they will double every ten years, leaving me a hefty retirement. I also found out that I have a FREE financial advisor (for the rest of my life), a service provided for those misplaced-military dependents. The one good thing Dad did for me! lol

Today's been highly productive. After shopping nearly 4 hours, I finally found THE outfit that'll I wear for my senior recital. It's still concert black, but it's light, delicate, flowing, and sorta' formal. *grins* Maybe it'll distract my audience so that they'll ignore the horrible sounds pertruding from my instrument!!! Seriously you guys, I'm so nervous/stressed out over this stupid recital. I must think about it 24/7. Mmm..thanksgiving dinner...turkey...recital....family...recital...mmmm mashed potatoes recital. recital. recital rec-Hot guy crossing the street!!! j/k Nonetheless, last night makes my FOURTH nightmare I've had about that bloody thing! BAAAH! Bah to it!

Anyway, so I found out my Cousin Pam, who works for NASA, may be moving to Europe. They offered her a job in South Korea, but she turned it down, hoping that something would open up in Italy instead. And if it does, I told her to take it! -just so it'll give me an excuse to brush-up on my Italian. *wink wink*
.......................

In either case, all for now. I must be leaving for Hattiesburg again. -Should get there by 5:30. "Lo siento" to Eric for not having time to have breakfast/lunch with you today. But I promise we'll get together sometime later this week or the next. Later gang!

what's new in ellen-world

Got home around 5 this afternoon. Mom & I cooked a grilled chicken salad and chatted about 2 hours, just enough time to get caught-up as I finished all my laundry that I would have done last night. but no harm done

After dinner I kidnapped Hope and headed to the mall to catch all the pre-Thanksgiving sales. Lol.. We totally bought the exact SAME shirt. (No, we're not best friends!) and i got three new bras (all in charge card--a girl's best friend, at least until the next refund check). Still no outfit for recital (but in time).

I also saw my old boss Clay tonight. He's like, "well, while you're in town, do you want to work tomorrow or the day after?" and despite his kindness over the past few years, I couldn't help myself. *and I still can't believe what i told him to his face* "Um...no! Never! The day after Thanksgiving? HELL NO!" lol, so..I wonder if he'll still give me that job during Christmas break.?.?.?

Afterwards Hope & I headed over to Buffalo Wild Wings for a round of margaritas. listened to some really bad karyoke, and just enjoyed ourselves for a few.

*Sigh* I can tell I'm old; right around 10:30 I'm like *Yawn*

So here I am, back home at last. Just visiting with Brandy-bear and Raws on the Net.

quick update

So one more day down...just another half a day until I finally get to go home. w00t!

But Tuesday was good. First of all, I had written an original poem on love for my Spanish class (it was part of a homework assignment). So when I got to class this morning, there was my poem, posted on the overhead projector.

Then onto general recital. So I grab the program and begin to find a seat. I'd only made it two steps in the door when Regina stops me and says, "Ellen, aren't you supposed to be playing today?" Um...no. I think I would have known if I was playing (kinda' sarcastically. duh!). But then I look down at the program, only to discover my name, right there next to Brandy's-- "Two Duets for Clarinet." WTF??? What are we doing on the program?!? So by this time it's 10:55 and I call Brandy, "Hey, I don't know how to tell you, but...apparently we're playing today. yeah, yeah...well, that's what the program says! I know, I'm not dressed up either." So we go to find Dr. Oakes in a mad panic. And he's like, "Oh, I'm sorry. I thought either Dr. Mazzadri or either Dr. Malone would have told you. I guess it was my fault." So yeah, we didn't play today, obviously, but we are scheduled for the next General Recital on the 13th.

So then I went to lunch with Brandy & Shane. Sort of a roommate-bonding time.

Saw Dr. Smith. Gah, he won't leave me alone!!! He's like, "I'm not mad at you, but I need that concert black as soon as possible. Like NOW!" ...I guess he realized that he was scaring me a little, so then he tries to be all nice to make up for it. "So I hear you're coming back here for your Masters. Are you still interested in playing in the Carillon?" (I don't know guys. think i should?)

Finally tonight Shane & I had a psuedo-date. Went to Chili's and grabbed a margarita or two. *grins* Tequila is my friend. :-P About halfway through our meal Ross called and asked if we would come support/hear him at the Jazz Lab 1 Concert. ...which usually I'm like...oh my freakin' gah. those concerts take FOR-EV-ER! But tonight it was really good. Probably THE best one I've been to. All LATIN music. hehe And Ross & Smiley totally kicked butt. So afterwards we headed over to Java Werks to grab a peppermint frappe. Mmmm Played a round of Chess. ...i was winning. *glare at Shane* Then onto Ihop so that Raws could eat dinner. --got into some funny debates.

But anyway, I'm home now for the nIGHt. And Joe obviously wants some atteNtion. (seeing as HE IS PRESSIng RANdOM buttons on my computer AS I Type) G'night all and God bless!

Yay for "me" time. Came home from practice and took a loooong bubble bath, very relaxing. But I still just wanted to get-away. from everything, from school, from life for a little bit. so I grabbed a snack from Sonic since the road to the Hub was blocked off (wtf?) and headed over to the mall, just to shop and walk, look around a little bit, to see if anything pleased the ellen. Found a fabulous new pair of jeans, slightly long, but still fitting nonetheless. yay for me-time.

now back to reality. *goes to work on spanish homework*
p.s.--Thanks Brandy, for putting together our recital program. All we need now is paper! think we should get that pack of 200 from Walmart?

pps--yay for joe calling!
