Dog eat Cat

What Journal?

I guess it's time for my annual update, huh? I seem to have narrowed my online time to three websites: deviantart, fark and my email server. I do most of my blogging on my deviantart page and I suppose I could cross-post some of it over here.
A lot has changed for us since my last post here: Tim's now working with me, we both are volunteering at the animal shelter (check out our blog at Shelter Diaries) and we have a new dog, Rufus. After being a cat-obsessed person my entire life (and I do mean both 'obsessed' and 'entire') I am absolutely in LOVE with this little puppy! Here's his photo page so far: Rufus P. Cornchip Head) I also spend almost all my time at the shelter working with the dogs instead of the cats. I'm a traitor, I know. ;)
I'm also back to doing some writing, which I'd given up years ago. It's nothing I plan to share right now, but it definitely makes me feel like my old self again, which is a happy thing. I feel like a missing appendage has been reattached. You artists and writers out there know what I mean, I hope.
Anyway, I better get my ass to work soon. See you next year! (heh)

Oh, and I cut off my hair again. LOVE IT!!!!

Exorcising Vista

Has anyone around here purged Vista from their laptop and if so, do you think you can help us do so as well? Tim has a new lappy and we've tried the method listed online but to no avail. It's like mildew or termites.

Damn you, ETSY!!!!

If I could have just one designer do all my clothes, it would be Treehouse28 I absolutely LOVE their clothes! LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE with a capital "LUH!"

I'm probably way behind the times, seeing as I only "discovered" etsy a day or two ago. But it makes me think about the cute things some of my lj buddies make: hair accessories, clothes, pastries... It'd be great to see some of my talented friends making some money for doing what they love.

Does anyone have an etsy account?

Just checking in

Hello, I'm still alive and haven't forgotten how to log into LJ. I just don't ever do it. Like, EVER. :)

But, to recap the last year:

Lost a cat
Got two new cats
Got a new housemate ("runiclaw" on LJ)
Gained a few pounds
Got really bad eczema on my head and neck
Stopped coloring my hair
Did some art
Took some photos
Read some books
Still working at the bookstore

Um... that's about it. If you need me, you know where to find me. ;)

Project Download

If you haven't already seen this somewhere else, please hop on over to projectdownload and give a click. JUST a click!

If you're worried about what the download is, well, I've already done it myself about a dozen times or more, and so have about 11,000 others. It's just a text file. Here's what it says and why you need to download it and spread the word:

Hi, my name is Erin and I'm a 29 year old single female living in the United States of America.

I suffer from two neurological disorders (Chiari malformation and cranial lesions) that will require a combined total of 2-4 brain surgeries. I'm unemployed and uninsured and the state I live in is so broke, they have strictly limited who qualifies for Medicaid. Because I have no children and am not pregnant, I don't qualify.

I have been working with several hospitals and organizations in my area to get the care and treatment that I need, but have only made so much progress. Bottom line: In the USA, if you don't have insurance, the healthcare system doesn't exist for you. I have had a surgical consultation and it has been recommended I have the first brain surgery as soon as I possibly can. The only catch is that there will be a deposit required ranging anywhere from $1500-$5000 dollars. I have not worked for almost a year and therefore do not have this kind of money.

Living with a Chiari malformation is painful and exhausting. Living with cranial lesions in addition to the Chiari? Is beyond any kind of description.

I've thought about the different ways I can try to raise this money. I don't like asking for handouts or charity of any kind, so I have hesitated in giving my PayPal information as a solicitation for donations.

Then, I came across the MegaUpload reward program and used part of what little money I do have to set up a paid account for two months for $11.99. This program states if I get 5 million downloads, they will pay me $10,000. There a few stipulations: only one download per IP address per day, only downloads made from qualifying countries, no attempted manipulation or fraud to earn more points.

I don't know if this is too good to be true, but I figure it's worth a shot. If I can somehow reach enough people who would be willing to take time out of their day, hopefully more than just one day, to download this virus free text document, I may be able to get the surgery I need to continue living.

She's not wanting money from anyone (except MegaUploads) and there is no reason NOT to participate. Imagine, a three-second download that could save a woman's life!
