@vividwhims

I dislike the current gif search capabilities, this one of my alternatives. Why do you gif?

if you read my recall posts and think "wow, it feels like there is a recall at least once a week in the US these days" you are completely wrong

there are recalls every single day in the united states. please do not rely on one charming tumblr user to tell you about every one of the dozens of recalls that can happen in one single american day. I absolutely cannot even post about a tenth of the recalls that happen in the US.

I link to every official affiliated agency and official recall announcement on every one of my recall posts because I want you to be looking at the actual real official recall feeds and not just my rebloggabale edutainment posts where I also talk about international popsicle titles and cool internet comics

I know you have an internet connection

🇺🇸 in the past month alone (july 22 2026 to august 22 2026 whenever I started typing) there have been 🇺🇸:

there have been over 500 fucking US recall entries published in the past month, and more since I started typing this post. this is not a comprehensive list of every source for US recalls, recall entries, or public safety publications.

I say recall "entries" because one single recall entry can contain hundreds of recalled products/models/flavors/codes/batches/lots/etc. if you wanted to count all of those individually, it would be somewhere between THOUSANDS and TENS OF THOUSANDS of recalls. in one month!

each of my big circulating rune style tumblr posts about recalls, outbreaks, safety alerts, etc takes ~3 to 12+ hours to research, write, edit, alt text, arrange, format, proofread, source, and then hit post. not including breaks. this post alone took 3-4 hours.

listen, you fucking rock. I enjoy spending time with you. we have a lot of fun together. I tell great jokes. sometimes you make me laugh too.

but I physically can not post about even 1% of all recalls and safety alerts in the US, let alone anywhere else in the world.

so do me this favor: if recalls or safety publications in the US are relevant to you at all, bookmark some of the links in this post and check them every now and then. once a week, once a month, once a year, whatever you can manage. maybe even sign up for some alerts.

you must not rely on my posts, anyone else's posts, social media as a whole, or even news outlets to keep up with recalls in the US. if you want to keep up with recalls/outbreaks/safety alerts/etc in the US, you need to follow official government sources.

not seeing a lot of people on here talking about ICE murdering another man yesterday. His name was Lorenzo Salgado Arajou. He was a Mexican man living in Huston Texas. He was killed at age 52 and lived the past 35 years here in the USA, and was in the process of obtaining a work permit. He was shot and killed during a traffic stop that ICE claims was part of a targeted operation, and claimed he was “weaponizing his vehicle”- the same claim ICE agents made when they shot and murdered Renee Good.

During the stop, Lorenzo had 3 coworkers with him in his truck who have all been taken into ICE custody.

His family described Lorenzo as a hardworking family man who didn’t deserve to be killed. All he wanted was to provide for his wife and see his sons become great people. His eldest son recognized his father by his cries and pleas when trying to identify who the victim was.

The Salgado Araujo family has set up a gofundme to help with funeral and legal costs, and to help keep their family supported since Lorenzo was the sole provider.

Say it with me! Wheelchairs aren’t sad! Mobility aids aren’t sad! Mobility aids are instruments of freedom!

IT’S DISABILITY PRIDE MONTH YALL

BE UNAPOLOGETICALLY DISABLED AND TAKE UP ALL THE SPACE AND TIME YOU NEED!!!!!

I want to boost everything this person has said and add on.

The reason I call myself a tomboy now, despite it being seen as a childish word and having had someone swear at me over it because ‘tHeRe’S nO suCh thInG as BoY thInGs anD giRL thIngS sHut uP’ is because I couldn’t call myself that or be like that when I was a kid. It was seen as a negative thing and I was already bullied enough. “Looking like a boy” was the worst thing that could happen to a girl.

And I’m not even 26 yet. We aren’t talking 30+ years ago, we are talking 2000s and even 2010s. It’s only since trans people have become more accepted in the past few years that gender nonconformity has too.

And the people who helped me accept my gender nonconformity more than anyone else? Were trans people. They taught me, “there’s nothing wrong with how you feel. You’re still a valid woman no matter what you wear, how you have your hair or what you’re into ❤️”

And don’t even get me started on how people treat gender nonconforming men. JK Rowling has a lot of nerve to be like “uwu boys can wear dresses and only us gendercrits accept that!” when she has, even in recent works, made femininity in men a negative trait, as well as making masculinity in women a negative trait also.

A lot of people still don’t accept gnc people even now. Just last year I had someone tell me they’d never let their daughter “dress like a boy”, and I’m always terrified to walk into a bathroom in case the next JK Rowling is in there, sees my gender expression and pepper sprays me or worse.

“There’s no such thing as boy things and girl things.” I don’t need to be told that and I’m sure 99% of trans people also don’t need to be told that. Tell that to the society that hates us both instead of actively encouraging that hate.

Gonna point out the og tweet thread is now full of terfs saying that life was better for gay people in the fucking 80s, that it was super easy for them to be a tomboy in the 70s and 80s and therefore it must have been that way for everyone, and that it was totally acceptable to be a gnc gay person in the 80s! 🤪

They’re rewriting history as we speak to try to argue trans acceptance is making it harder to be gay and gnc for youth than it was to be gay in the 80s. This is a blatant lie.

The fucking 80s??? As in, “aids crisis” 80s?? As in, “the government actively avoided funding research to help gay people” 80s????

Man I knew terfism was brain rot but I didn’t think it was this bad.

Actually I'm not going to just keep this in the tags

as someone who was there that is finest grade bullshit

I'm baffled that some people seem to think this video/post is a joke & find it funny that someone ascribed emotions & music to the salmons' journey, as if that's new. Humans around the world have told stories about salmon since time immemorial. Salmon are sacred symbols of life, loss, and recovery. In many places, depletions tell stories of colonialism and genocide, and their recovery is a victory hard-won by the actions of Indigenous and colonized Peoples.

It's impossible to overstate the necessity Salmon have been to entire cultures globally for tens of thousands of years.

I get that the humor around this video may not be "that deep," but capitalism and colonialism divide us all from the sacredness and inherent value of all lives. Many of us have become completely disconnected from the cycles of life which support us every day and from the food that nourishes us. If a music edit about salmon moves you, hold onto that. Foster that! Salmon have always moved us. Listen to a story in Tlingit about the Salmon People:

Fun facts about immigration in the US you might want to share with friends and relatives for no particular reason

  • The United States actually had open borders until 1924. There was no cap on immigration, and people were only denied access based on race and disability. (NOTE: Open borders means little to no formal restriction on movement across borders. There was still terrible discrimination.) (x)
  • The Immigration Act of 1924 had an overall negative impact on the economy (x) (x) and foreign relations with Asia, but Hitler praised it (x), because it was just blatant eugenics (x).
  • ICE didn't exist until 2003 (x)
  • Being undocumented is not actually classified as a crime (x). If it was, cases would be handled by the judicial branch, and defendants would receive the benefits of due process. But because it isn't, it is handled by the executive branch, and defendants do not get due process, in clear violation of their rights. That means no lawyers, no jury, and no real judge.
  • Immigration "judges," who are not required to have nearly as much experience or education in law as real judges (x), face no consequences for wrongful deportation, they are only really evaluated based on how many people they process.
  • While it's difficult to pin down an exact number, there have been an estimated 4,000 wrongful detention/deportations by 2010 alone (x - this one suggests a possible 20,000) (x - this one confirms over a thousand), with several reported on in mainstream media (Mark Lyttle, Pedro Guzman, Roberto Dominquez, Andres Gonzalez, Esteban Tiznado-Reyna).
  • In April 2025, there were several more confirmed wrongful deportations, including a 2-year-old citizen deported to Honduras (x) (x), a 10-year-old with brain cancer on her way to a medical appointment (x), and a 7-year-old and her 4-year-old brother with stage 4 cancer (x).
  • There were more deaths in ICE concentration camps in 2025 than almost any year prior, tying for first place with 2003 (x). If nothing is done about it, that number will increase in 2026.

I try and talk about this with my Hispanic Republican father and he says, “you don’t understand. You haven’t seen what I’ve seen.” He says talking about this makes him “tired”. He wants to continue to live in an American Dream, but he’s helping to turn that dream into so many people’s nightmare. Simultaneously he has done so much for his community. Simultaneously he is loving and kind. I love him and he breaks my heart.

Linux can be great if you wanna dedicate that time to it. Hells yeah. But also companies shouldn’t be forcing this crap down our throats giving us little option to avoid. They’re absolutely colluding to make computers shittier

Yet another new study debunked the basis for the anti-trans sports bans. It was never about sports but for creating legal avenues for exclusion and abjection. This is one of the largest analyses ever conducted, involving 52 studies and 6,485 trans people. Read the study here.

post so nice had to reblog it twice and force it down everyone's throats

At minimum about 4.5 thousand people liked this without reblogging it.

We gotta fix that.

Progress.

Onwards!

Jonathan Joss was an Indigenous, gay man who was murdered on the first day of Pride month as well as Indigenous History Month. He died protecting his trans husband. Homophobia and racism aren’t marks of the past, and this is a heart breaking reminder of that.

Praying for a safe journey back to the spirit world, Uncle ❤️‍🩹🦅

Today is the anniversary of the death of Jonathan Joss (King of the Hill, Parks and Rec). Jonathan Joss was an Indigenous, gay man who died protecting his transgender husband, on the first day of Pride month. Today we remember him and how he protected his family.

#google translate does not capture the tone switch so i have to say. first two sentences are like. normal maybe kind of feminine posting tone #& the last is like. shounen manga protagonist. action movie hero. jojo's bizarre adventure character. #the tone you would use if you were holding a gun with the safety off (– @chadlesbianjasontodd)

Basically, a translation could be:

I just think it's so interesting that people end up falling in love with their friends' boyfriends! I absolutely despise every single one of them. give me my fucking homie back you goddamn bastard

Things you can do as a security guard instead of acting like a dickhead: a vent post disguised as advice

  1. Offer alternatives: IE, “Sorry, nobody’s allowed to hang out over there, but we have seats over here you’re welcome to use”. I recommend getting familiar with local parks, public seating, free food programs, outreach, mobile aid, etc., just in case those are needed.
  2. Be polite: IE, “Excuse me, sir”, “I beg your pardon, miss”. This should go without saying but everyone deserves dignity.
  3. Avoid phrasing requests as orders: IE, “Don’t stand in front of that” VS “Excuse me, could you move a bit to the side?”. This works best with an explanation, like, “There’s a sign behind you”, or, “you might get clipped by someone”. This helps communicate that you are asking for a reason, not just throwing your weight around. If you don’t have a reason, rethink whether or not you need to be doing anything.
  4. Avoid directing blame or fault. Don’t say, “The owner says you gotta go” when you could say, “I’m not supposed to let people be here for X period” or “do X thing”. Again, try to have alternatives ready so people can use other resources or do something else instead of just abruptly changing plans.
  5. Come from a place of compassion whenever you can. People are gonna tell you to get rid of the crazy screaming guy. They say that because they’re frightened and don’t know what to do. Your best approach is, “Hello sir”, followed by, “How are you today?”, “how’s it going?”, “are you doing alright?”, etc., depending on what the person is ACTUALLY doing / saying when you get there. You can offer help from there if needed, or leave them alone if they’re not in danger or a risk to anyone.
  6. Remember you’re not a cop. This can mean whatever you need it to mean. For me personally, that means that with incredibly rare exception (like trying to sell to kids, contaminating other’s food or drink) I won’t report you for drugs. If I find you doing drugs on my site I’ll tell you a different place where you can do them instead and ask you to do them there. I have interrupted drug deals to ask the client and the salesman to both kindly move 15 feet to the left, I’m not kidding, I do not care.
  7. Know who you can throw under the bus. Sometimes you gotta enforce rules and be the bad guy and if that’s the fault of some dipshit in a suit 200 miles away, you can say that. Sorry man, I can’t let you park your car on the lawn. I know you’re not hurting anyone and frankly I think lawn culture is stupid but there’s other parking stalls and if my boss sees you I’ll get a write-up for not doing my job. Shit sucks sometimes but if it wasn’t me telling you it’d be the new guy, and between you and me he’s an idiot and he’ll probably just report you to bylaw.
  8. Don’t just act like you’re their friend, genuinely try to be a good friend. If you know that someone is doing something that will only result in a bystander phoning police, don’t let them go down like that. Let them know, “hey man, you seem like you’re having a shit time and I get it, I’ll do what I can, but we gotta have this conversation somewhere else ‘cause we’re freaking out the old ladies.”
  9. Swallow your tongue. You can’t fix the world. People are gonna bitch at you about communists and 5G and gangster rap ruining the neighbourhood, that’s just part of the deal. Nod along, remain neutral, shut down any hate speech, redirect if you can, and keep a limit in mind where you’ll have to shut things down.
  10. Accept that sometimes there are no solutions. Yes, that angry guy who blasts music will be back tomorrow. That homeless woman who asks you to help her find her dog that she hasn’t had in 30 years will ask again, and yes, you’re still going to take a description and promise to keep an eye out. That kid who smokes crack behind the building has been clean for a few weeks and still stops by to say hi, and you hope he’ll get his life together and be happy, but he also might relapse and OD before he hits 25. Sometimes you just have to do the best you can, even if nothing is guaranteed.
  11. Be kind to teenagers. Being a kid is hard, and everyone’s on their ass all the damn time for everything.
  12. Remember that the vast majority of bad people aren’t bad, just unhappy. The guy who keeps showing up drunk and puking on the carpet is unhappy. The lady who bitches about the service every single time and keeps coming back anyway is unhappy. The guy who leaves trash everywhere is probably unhappy. If they were happy, maybe they’d do better, but they’re not, and that’s kinda sad. You don’t have to let them get away with their shit, but they probably aren’t actually a worthless human being either.
  13. It doesn’t matter if 12 is true or not. You need to believe it or you will become a harsh and bitter person. Look for evidence that people are not terrible and invent it if you have to
  14. Don’t let yourself become a bastard

Thanks, OP.

A couple nights ago, my roommate and I got home and found a strange car in our reserved parking space with its flashers on. I went into the nearest building lobby to ask if anyone owned a blue Thingy parked in space X with the flashers on, and nobody owned up, but a security guard got interested. When I said that yes, it was my reserved parking space I was trying to use, he tried to call a tow truck.

And I said no, I didn't want the Thingy towed. If the driver wasn't playing cards in the lobby of this building (a thing that happens, hence my checking there first), they were probably delivering for Doordash or Amazon, and getting their car towed could ruin their fucking life. They'd be back soon enough, probably before the tow truck could arrive, and literally none of this was worth destroying some poor schmuck. I would park in one of the open spaces on the other side of the complex that nobody liked to use, the security guard wouldn't issue me a citation for doing that instead of parking in my own space, and I'd move my car in an hour because there was no way anyone with their flashers on would be here longer than that. I didn't want white-lady vengeance; I wanted the dude to move his car and nobody to have their night ruined over a parking fuckup.

This speech caused the security guard to fully bluescreen because lots of residents here WOULD demand to have the Thingy towed and probably no one had brought up the whole delivery-driver-can't-afford-impound-fees thing before.

And while he was rebooting, a dude in a vest ran out of another building, said, "Oh, shit, I should move my car," got in the Thingy, and drove off.

One less act of bastardry.

People get so bugged by others being a nuisance and yeah that’s fine, have your emotions. But like, we can be better, do better. Our emotions don’t have to snowball to ruining another’s day.

Okay so some people can’t see objects in their imagination and some people don’t think in words and some people hear their thoughts like a voice and others don’t. I get that

But how many distinct channels do most folks have playing at once? cause my normal range is 2-4 and I though that was just what thinking was LIKE but CBD brings that down to just 1

Like is this the experience

Pretty much, I guess?

But there's no visuals, narration only happens by choice, and at least one 'channel' exists only for OCD

Channels 1-2 are linguistic, 3&4 are audiovisual, and any additional channels are like a running list of other tasks and sensory input

If anyone was wondering what it’s like to have adhd…

This is so goddamn cool

Just the one channel for me, usually my inner monologue but will get captured by other people talking (really hard to learn how to make conversation), tv, music. It’s quite and calm but pretty slow when the rest of the world seems to move at double/triple pace. Never seems like I can keep up, mostly learned how to not mind that.

Honestly I thought having multiple channels was “normal” and I’m lost as to what that even means anymore. I know most ppl with adhd have all the things happening at once like this. But being able to just inner monologue or sometimes it’s just static or there’s that vast emptiness where you’re trying to think of a word but all you can hear is your own thoughts scrambling as the walls of your mind trying to find the word.

happy trans day of visibility to all the trans folks out there. to the dolls. to the trans people of colour. to the fat trans people. to the hairy trans people. to the trans mascs who present feminine and the fems who present masculine. to the trans people opressed by the binary present even within queer culture. to the trans people who feel dysphoria, and those who don’t. to the ones who aren’t out for their own safety. to the ones who aren’t out to themselves. to the trans people in warzones and facing genocide. to the trans people whose basic rights and humanity is constantly up for debate. to the ones that are still alive despite it all. happy trans day of visibility to you
