Abel (No white knight)

A Taste of Gold and Iron by Alexandra Rowland

The m/m romance is mostly sweet, though Evemer is so steeply and unrelentingly judgmental in his early chapters that I wanted to smack him and Prince Kadou could get caught in anxiety spirals that made me feel a bit edgy myself. Evermer's kink for powerful people to kind of step on him is funny. Unfortunately, the longer the book goes on, the more of its plot unfolds, and almost everyone is too much of an idiot to live.

Judging the plot of a book mostly sold as a romance? you might ask in disbelief. The plot affects the characterization and evolution of Evemer and Kadou and the progress of their relationship. Plus, there was literally a scene that had me mentally screaming in rage at the stupidity.

"Mask of Zorro" Olivia Smart & Adrián Díaz, Spanish Olympic Ice Dancers (2022 Senior Free Dance)
I love the elements of paso doble and swordfighting that are sometimes incorporated, the lifts are great, and the partners are so in sync.

Whatever, Whatever

It took me trying to watch episodes of Yuri!!! On Ice to find out that Crunchyroll has ended the option of being able to watch episodes of things free but with commercials and now demands you apply for a free trial of their paid account, while not saying how long this free trial is before they start billing you $10 a month, to see anything other than a short preview. I refuse.

I caught a bit of the series on YouTube... and was bored by most of the ice skating. I am enthralled when it's done by real people, but with animated people not even getting to hear their interior monologues kept my interest.

While I was cleaning my keyboard with the laptop still on I somehow managed to disable my mouse and lose my cursor! After freaking out a lot and struggling to restart my computer as opposed to just putting it into a sleep mode (since I couldn't use a mouse), I found a webpage on my cellphone that gave me possible solutions and thankfully one option worked in getting it back. I thought I might have to take it to a shop and pay to fix it.

I had no idea how to disable my mouseboard--still don't--or that it apparently didn't take many steps to totally fuck things up for myself. I didn't know it was possible! And, like, why is it that easy to do so?

Through skygiants I learned the tale of now-departed LGBTQ icon, New Zealand's Thomas the bisexual goose. (Also, I didn't know that swans and geese could mate or that their offspring is called a "swoose.")

It’s a weird atmosphere, this running at 3 a.m. at night in midtown Manhattan, an area with no people in it at the time, while it’s 84 °F/29 °C.
Nagi (headphones)

What you doing? Where you at?

Most of the area's flowering trees have already lost all their flowers, but I shot these while we still had them. Here's a short video I took, on a night walk, of cherry blossom petals peacefully falling in the wind.

The pollen has been so plentiful recently that my allergies are destroying me. Being outdoors burns my nose and throat.

Somewhat different ice dancing than usually seen here, by Liz Schmidt skating to FKA twigs' "Cellophane."

Queen Cobra Performs "Leave the Door Open" | Season 7 Ep. 9 | The Masked Singer

The Queen Cobras unmasked perform "Say a Little Prayer" (spoilers for their identities). The harmonies....

I still remain angry over The Masked Singer's Rudy Giuliani stunt earlier this season though. So inappropriate having him compete on the show.

April Flowers (and Shadows)

Alice + Olivia flowersThere are 9 photos and a short video at my Flickr of windows I shot March 26. (I'd like to give a warning about flashing lights in the video, just to be safe.) These are from Bloomingdale's and Saks Fifth Avenue. There are more from that night-morning I haven't 'shopped and posted yet.

Continuing my Queens library-aided dive into "Weird Al" Yankovic's back catalog, I listened to his 1983 self-titled debut album. The subject matter of "Gotta Boogie" is a little gross and childish--it's boogers, okay--but its sound is disco polka, which I find weirdly funny. This album has a lot more accordion in general.

Here's another great ice dancing video shot by On Ice Perspectives at Bryant Park, this time with Team USA Ice Dancers Molly Cesanek & Yehor Yehorov.

Lately, I've been hating the dreams I remember, though at least the one I'm about to tell you a bit about doesn't feature my mother, who's been a fixture of a lot of my recent dreams.

I'd be happy if I didn't feel physical pain in my dreams. Last night's involved some exploding glass, with me experiencing sharp, prickly pain in my face and legs from where the shards went into me. Also, I had to fight off belligerent people attacking me while I had that, though at least I didn't experience the feeling of heat or pain when I hit a few of them with burning objects, though, to be fair, I was never touching the burning end of said objects. I don't even know.

I've had my Elantra for a little over a year now. I feel that most cars have faces, and so does she.
My Elantra partially in shadows.

More from On Ice Perspectives: performances I enjoyed with the same style of camera work, this time pairs skating.

"Exogenesis" - Oona Brown & Gage Brown skate to Muse in New York City, 2021

Since this was filmed 12/21/21, Bryant Park still has its Christmas gift village set up outside the rink.

"Find Me", World Champion Ice Dancers Gabriella Papadakis, Guillaume Cizeron perform 2020 Free Dance

Especially watch "Find Me."

"No Time To Die - Johanna Allik ice skating to Billie Eilish at Bryant Park in New York City"

This is pretty magical: the skating, setting, lighting, smooth and involving camera work (with Jordan Cowan making it seem like you're on the ice with Johanna Allik), and sound, where you can hear her blades on the ice as well as the music.

Folks who have been curious about how Manhattan is on my late-night rides? This video gives you a bit of an idea.

A Day at the Races (figure, night)Posted to Dreamwidth Thursday, March 17, 2022:

I've put up the night version of Bloomingdale's Bridgerton window displays as well as some simple but pretty Zara windows. I'll do the Bergdorf Goodman ones another time. That's 12 photos and a short video at my Flickr.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: I don't understand Louis Vuitton shoes.
wtf, LV shoes

Flickr is making some changes it claims to be very proud of but I'm rather ehhh about.

Nathan Chen is a great athlete, but his routines rarely hold my attention or move me the way Yuzuru Hanyu's do. But the ISU is pushing skaters who do a lot of quad jumps over artistry and musicality lately, which is how they're also ruining women's figure skating. (Why is women's figure skating now dominated by anorexic teen girls who are broken and retired by about 17 years of age? This.)

My favorite moment in this Yuzuru Hanyu video starts at 1:52, "Save a triple axel in an epic way." Epic? Yes. Extra? Definitely.
