Bio

Yo, I’m Sage, a PNW trans-punk artist.

I do a bit of everything around here; it’s like flipping on a TV at 3 am - you never know what you’re going to get. I’m trying to make sense of the static in my brain.

Cinderella (1950)

enchanteddreameruniverse

This. This moment is the most important in the movie. This is when the Prince falls for her - he was infatuated before but he clearly thought that the reason Cinderella was around him was because he was the Prince, but when he discovered she has no clue, he realised that she stayed and talked and spent the whole night with him because she likes who he was as a person - not his title. Not only that but he liked her; we don’t know what they talked about, but we can imagine it must have been interesting and nice to last a whole night so we know she just have said something that made him want to stay around her too. That’s why he wanted to find her, not cause she was pretty (I mean the guy couldn’t even remember her face and went off a shoe for God’s sake - which gives me a theory that the Prince has Prosopagnosia AKA face blindness) but because she liked him not his title, and he liked whoever she was, rich or poor.

The prince has face blindness and dumbass disease ok? He’s trying his best!

hobbitnikki

The Prince isn’t the one who went looking for Cinderella. He wanted to go out and find the girl he danced with. It was his father, the king, who wouldn’t let him go and instead sent the archduke to find the maiden. Since the king and archdruke didn’t dance with Cinderella or really know her beyond a glance from a distance, they only had what she left behind to go off of: the glass slipper.

The prince isn’t a fool who forgot her face. He didn’t even get to be the one to look for her.

i’m just saying, when i die in mysterious and unexplained circumstances i want you all to make sure that everybody knows it. instead of saying how i was “a friend to everyone” and that i “lit up a room” when i entered it i want people to shake their heads while muttering that i “asked too many questions for my own good” and talk about how they “warned me that i was getting in way over my head” and that i “always had a knack for finding trouble” wherever i went. if you don’t make me a local urban legend you’ve failed me.

a quick grass tutorial

urswurs

I’ve never really wrote a tutorial before so apologies if this is bad

1. okay first thing I do is pick three colors, a mid, dark, and light. I like to check the colors in greyscale to make sure there’s enough contrast between each one.

I then plop down a blob of whatever my middle tone color is.

image

2. next, I take my dark color and just sort of randomly place it around. I try to make sure there’s a good amount of both the mid and dark tones spread throughout. I personally like to keep it kinda messy. I also have pen pressure on for both brush size and opacity, so I can have some blending action going on.

image

3. for the next step I do the exact same thing as before, except with the light color.

image

4. aight this is where we start adding details. see how you just have a bunch of colors and edges where two colors meet? use the eyedropper and go to an area where two colors meet, eyedrop a color, and then use that color to draw in your grass blades. I do this at every point where colors meet. should note I personally like to use a square brush, but you can really just use anything.

image

5. you can technically stop at the last step if you’re going for a more simple look, but to add more details I go to the “empty” areas of solid color and just draw in random strokes using a color nearby. it’s just a way to fill up the empty space.

image

6. basically more of the same idea of eyedropping and drawing. for more variety so things look interesting, I like to add random plant shapes.

image

7. and so the grass doesn’t look too plain, I add random dots of color and pretend it’s flowers and stuff.

image

and there you have it, this is how I approach drawing grass.
