1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. List (and upload, if you feel like it) 5 songs that start with that letter.
3. Post them to your journal with these instructions.

[livejournal.com profile] bloodyfire gave me 'W,' and, as usual, I don't follow directions very well.

5 9 10 songs for you...

Although two of them have the same title, and one doesn't start with 'W.' There's a reason, really.

Okay, so not a very good reason, but I'm hopelessly addicted to music and I like sharing. Congratulate me on being able to stay away from my favorite Led Zeppelin song (since I think I've already ordered you guys to listen to it), 'When the Levees Break.' Oh, whoops. Now there's 11, and I haven't even gotten to it yet.

Hi. I suck at making decisions. I still managed to cut about 20 songs off the potential 'W' list, so you guys should be very proud of me.

Er. Let's try it anyway, shall we?

Who? - Brian Jonestown Massacre - If you happen to like The Dandy Warhols and you've seen that documentary about them called DIG, this is that 'other band' with Anton Newcombe. That man is insane, but a genius.

Water Curses - Animal Collective - I've raved about Animal Collective before, but you can hear it again. What this band is doing is SO FUCKING IMPORTANT for the future of music. The use loops, electronics, but they do it INTELLIGENTLY and don't write the same shit everyone else is writing.

Where I End and You Begin. (The Sky Is Falling In.) - Radiohead - Dude, what can I even say about Radiohead that you guys don't already know? Honestly, Thom Yorke is another one of those REALLY FUCKING IMPORTANT musicians that still gives me hope for the future of music.

Wintertime Love - The Doors - 'Cuz... yanno. Jim Morrison just doesn't get enough love. Plus, HARPSICHORD.

Wide Web - Folk Implosion - One of Lou Barlow's projects. Lou Barlow is probably best known for his work on the soundtrack of 'Kids.' I love the bass line on this one. And the guitar work...

Waited a Light Year - Tripping Daisy - Ever hear of the Polyphonic Spree? (If you've been on my journal for any amount of significant time, you've probably heard of them.) Well, Tim DeLaughter is the front-man of Polyphonic Spree. Tripping Daisy was his project in pre-Polyphonic days. (DeLaughter is on my icon. Imagine that. Yes, I would hit that.)

What People Are Made Of - Modest Mouse - I'm not a huge fan of Modest Mouse past 'Moon and Antarctica,' which is the album this song closes. I mean, I LIKE their newer stuff, but I don't LOVE it. Their old stuff is fucking rocking out genius, I tells ya.

Witness - The Delgados - Off that one album that I love immensely, The Great Eastern.

Witness - Screaming Trees - Had to share this, too... 'cuz I just happened to have another song called 'Witness.' This is off the album 'Dust,' which also has the song Look At You, which some of you may have heard on this oh-so-obscure show called 'Supernatural.' It was played during Sam and Madison's sexy-tiems on the episode 'Heart.'

*g* Yeah, I get that a lot. Most of the music I like isn't exactly getting radio-time. But I also enjoy introducing people to my rather eclectic collection. Just wait until I post some Ween.

I've just been getting into Led Zeppelin again, and "When the Levee Breaks" is soooooo amazing. Damn, now I'm listening to it again.

Oh man, this is some seriously great stuff. When the Levee Breaks is my favorite Led Zep song, too. Took everything I didn't already have, and thanks!
