Summary: Art students in 70's Detroit, Remus is amazed when the hot guy in the photo department asks him out. Sirius and Remus head for the Weather Report concert, part of the '77 Detroit Jazz Festival.

This is somewhat autobiographic, as I was an art student in Detroit in the early 70s, and listened to a lot of live jazz in those days. The real Detroit Jazz Festival didn't get going until 1980 with Montreaux Detroit (cool posters: clickee!), but there was plenty of action and plenty of talent in the city in those years. I listened to Weather Report on vinyl LP, and went to a concert at the now demolished Palace Theater to see Spirit perform. I took care to draw the actual band members on the stage including Jaco Pastorius, Wayne Shorter and Joe Zawinul.
I also loved Sanders ice cream and hot fudge! So I cooked a lot of nostalgia into this piece, incuding the spooky house on the right side of panel two. That house is much like the ones on Alfred Street between Detroit Medical center and Grand Circus. Those houses were derelict mansions when I was in school, and some of them were still standing, still a wreck, in 2000 when my father spent time at Harper Hospital. The werewolf, though, I never actually saw. Damn!
