Mayhem! Queer women’s BDSM and sexuality. All weekend long.

We’re completely pleased to be bringing you a conference-style weekend, with play parties, education, entertainment, and a line-up of brilliant presenters. We would like to invite all past, present and future women who enjoy woman-to-woman BDSM to our unique weekend of kink, play, and fun.

Whether you’re just beginning to explore kink, or consider yourself a seasoned veteran, Mayhem! is the place to play hard, play soft, learn, or just hang out and socialize with some very damn cool women.

History

Mayhem!will be the first women’s kink conference in Western Canada since 1993 — and the first one ever in East Vancouver, the area many local lesbians call home.

The Mayhem! weekend is organized by Bride of Pride. Our goal has always been to put on the exact kind of party that we all dream of attending, and of course that includes inviting everyone along.

The search is on for a new Conductor and Artistic Director for the Rainbow Concert Band, Canada's only Gay and Lesbian concert band!

The Rainbow Concert Band has been an important part of the Vancouver LGBT musical community since its formation in 1990, shortly after Gay Games III. Embarking on its 18th season, the Band is dedicated to providing an outlet for lesbian, gay, transgendered and bisexual (and even a few straight) people looking for a safe and supportive environment to practice and perform music.

The RCB performs one to two concerts per season. We also play in the Vancouver Pride Parade, the AIDS Walk, the Dyke March, Parade of Lost Souls, well as at other Pride events around BC.

This post offers a small honorarium and an opportunity to be partof our continuing community history. Responsibilities include conducting, choosing music for performances, liaising with other musical and queer groups, and deciding concert themes, as well as attending weekly practices on Thursday nights.

Interested applicants should email a brief CV, along with a short statement on their musical interests and experience, their involvemen tin the gay community, and what they think they could bring to the Rainbow Concert Band to:

Preference will be given to LGBT applicants, but all applicants welcome! Deadline for applications is October 8, 2008.

July 14:  Everyone Welcome BBQ, Pie Baking contest, and Oil Wrestling!

Come out and enjoy the summer sunshine in the country. We’re having a pre play party BBQ this month complete with oil wrestling and a baking competition.

Bring your own meat. We’ll provide the side dishes and non alcoholic beverages.

Drinking in moderation is allowed until 7pm (BYOB). Once the play party starts, the alcohol stops. Anyone who is impaired will be asked not to play, so be sure to watch your intake.

We’ll also have an oil wrestling station set up! Be sure to bring your bathing suit, spandex, or other alternative yet publically acceptable wrestling outfits if you would like to participate - our privacy fence is not yet built! So we only want to make the neighbours curious and nervous, not scared and upset. We have a shower here for partcipant hose down, and for the truly masochistic, a garden hose!

Join the pie baking competition! Bakers can enter up to two different pies for consideration. There will be a prize for the baker of the winning pie!

BBQ starts at 1pm and goes until 7pm. Play party follows!

Join friends and fun in the summer sun, have some good food, and a few laughs.

Strap It On workshop

Strap-on play can add a new twist to sex play for people of all genders and orientations. Learn the ins and outs of strap-on play in this fun, informative workshop put on by Jennifer De Roo, a local sex educator and long-time strap-on enthusiast. The workshop will feature a live stunt bottom.

We'll discuss types of harnesses and insertables, mental and physical preparation, anatomy and positions  and roleplay scemarios. Participants will be get the chance to examine toys, try on harnesses and ask questions, and toys and harnesses will be available for sale as well.

Jennifer De Roo is the owner and founder of Tickled Pink Toys (link please), an online adult toy store committed to offering consumers quality products and accessible information to enhance their sexuality. A lifestyle kinkster and an active participant in the Vancouver kink scene, Jennifer has been presenting educational workshops and seminars for several years at venues including SFU, UBC, the Taboo Sex Show, and the Conference of Kink.

About Raven's Retreat:
Raven’s Retreat is a private dungeon space and BDSM bed and breakfast located in Chilliwack, B.C., Canada. We are 90 minutes from Vancouver Canada, and 90 minutes from Bellingham Washington. We have over 1000 square feet of dungeon space split into two large rooms with several play stations. The house and dungeon is run by Mistress Katt and Master Wolfe, active members in the kink community in BC for well over a decade. We maintain high standards in cleanliness and safety, education and awareness.
