Posting Instructions

Leading up to their assigned posting day Authors and Artists need to communicate to get ready. I would like both Authors and Artists to make a Master Post at their journals (one for fic and one for art) and provide each other with the links.

For Authors I want a place on your journal people can go to be navigated to the fic (whether you decide to host in on your journal, on archive, or somewhere else).

For Artists and Mixers we want you to have a post that you can get your own feedback at.

If you want an example of a story master post please look HERE. For art post you can format the way you like just make sure to include a link to the author’s story, like THIS.

If you aren’t sure how to do this (the coding, etc) or have any other questions please contact me through the comms email (vampirebigbang@gmail.com), private message, or gchat at chosenfire2890. You can also always just leave a comment to this post.

Posting instructions are coming up next! I cut the 22nd as a posting day because most people were asking for later and I wanted to give everyone at least 24 hours to get their posts ready. So posting now starts on the 23rd.

Okay, its almost time guys. Final fic drafts and art rough drafts (so you don't have to have the art complete but you do need to be able to show you have started and made progress on the art) are due October 15th, 2012 give or take a few hours (or even a day, just get it in so I don't panick and send you frantic PMs please :D)

Please follow these instructions to submit your final fic and art drafts. This way we can know where people are and where to put them in the posting schedule (so authors and artists that are done will go towards the beginning, while ones that need some more time will be scheduled towards the end).

IF YOU AREN'T FINISHED DON'T WORRY! That is why we asked for you to tell us if its complete or not, I will try to work those people that need more time later on in the schedule.

In addition to the regular format this year there was been a new part added to the email, asking what dates you can't post between October 22nd and October 28th (this years posting period). If you have already send your stuff in thats fine, you'll just be getting an email back asking when during those dates you can't post (I try to find the best posting date for everyone so please help me know when its best for you).

Then just give the tracklist you have so far, you don't need to have a download link until you post your mix. If you have any cover or back art feel free to send that in as well.

As fics, art, and mixs come in they will be put into a posting schedule, the posting schedule will be up by October 20th at the latest - sooner if everyone gets their stuff in (those who need more time either art of fic wise will be put towards the end of the schedule). This will give the authors and artists going first a week to get their posts together. Posting instructions will be posted after the posting schedule goes up.

If you can't turn anything in and want to drop out of the challenge email us or comment here to let us know ASAP.

Because of how late claims are running I am going to give authors and artists additional time to finish up their works before posting. Hopefully this gives everyone the time they need!

The new changes to the schedule is as follows:

Posting Starts – October 22nd, 2012

This means posting will be starting just in time for Halloween, fitting for our vampire theme :D

Artists can now claim a second or even third story at the claims post!

Please head on over here and claim a story, we have 5 amazing ones left that are still in need of artists.

CLAIMS ARE CURRENTLY OPEN



We have 14 lovely stories up for grabs for artists written for Round 3 of the Vampire Big Bang. Artists please read over the summaries and make your choices! (If you won’t be able to make it at the claims time you can arrange someone to claim for you).

- Each story can be claimed once.
- Because we’ve had so few mixers sign up this year mixes will count as another form of art, so a mixer can claim a story as the main artist.
- Once 24 hours have passed artists will be allowed to claim a second and even third story, that way everything can get claimed. If all stories are claimed and we have more artists we will then let artists claim a previously claimed story.
- Once a story has been claimed it will be marked off the list and the artist will be sent the author’s contact information. Author’s are welcome to contact the artist as soon as they are claimed if they would like.

Authors - If you have anything you want changed about your summary please PM me with the number and desired changes.

All stories have been checked in and spreadsheets updated. Because some authors need more time to write before claims, and because I would like to hear from a lot of authors who haven't turned in or dropped out, Author have until August 30th to turn in a rough draft. Instructions on how to turn in your rough draft are HERE. I will be sending out an email to remind those who haven't as well (in case they don't see this).

That means on August 31st summaries will go up for artists to preview, and claims will open on September 1st (with the rest of the schedule adjusted accordingly).

Finally, for authors that already turned in their rough draft and came under the 80% minimum please update me (either by email or PM) on the current percentage/word count of your story so I can update the spreadsheet.

Sorry to everyone for the delays, but things are on track now and there shouldn't be anymore!

Hey guys! I am going to have to delay claims for a few days. I still need to check in the stories turned in but the specific time will be announced for artists and there will be a preview period of the claims post.

This also means that authors who have not sent in their rough drafts yet still have time, so please do!!!

It's finally that time! You have until August 16th, 2012 to turn in your rough draft for Round 3 of the Vampire Big Bang challenge. First off, to answer some questions we may get.

- We would love it if you could turn in a minimum word count of 7,000, but IF you are ABSOLUTELY sure you will have your fic finished and more than 10,000 words by September 24th, 2012 then turn in the information we ask along with whatever you have. This is important because you have to be sure you will finish, all rough drafts will be going up to get claimed by an artist.

- No one but the mods will see what you turn in. Once your story is claimed by an artist you will be responsible for forwarding them a draft of the story they can do art off. So don't worry if the draft you have now is full of holes and notes.

- You can turn in more than one fic for this challenge. We don't frown on this, its not a problem at all. However, if you are turning in more than one fic please send each in separately.

- The summaries are important! This is what potential artists will be reading to claim a story for art. So please take your time, proofread it, and make sure its something that you think reflects your fic well.

Please keep the coding in your email, it makes it easier for us to just copy and paste this into the claiming post. The only things that will be taken out is the LJ username, percent complete, and current word count.

Then add your fic as an attachment, we would prefer it if you had it as an .doc but we can take .docx and .rtf



We will email you back confirming we have gotten the fic. This may not be immediate so please don't worry. If you have any questions at all or need any help leave a comment in this post. Finally, if you don't believe you will be able to complete this challenge please PM me or leave a comment to this post.

If you would like to join the Unofficial Track instead of dropping out you can do that as well, your story won't go into claims buy you will have until September 30th to get your story done. If you can do this I will find an artist for you! If you want to go with this option follow the instructions at this post and just put Unofficial in the subject line.

It is now time for the 3rd and final checkpoint of this round! Round drafts are due in a little over 3 weeks (instructions on how to send this in will be coming up)

Here is how the checkpoint works. We are keeping a spreadsheet for the authors including the current word count. Comment to the post with the below filled out. Please don’t skip any portions. Some explanation, if you aren't writing in a fandom put original, and type refers to gen, slash, or het.

If you are writing more than one story please fill out one of these for both. It's completely fine to have no words at this point, and don't be discouraged if you see someone else with a lot. People write at different paces (or they could have started their story a while back). Also, this isn't mandatory at all so if you don't check in you won't be dropped from the challenge.
