Every time I read a book I'm like wow I forgot how fun this is. This is awesome. Why aren't I doing this every day. And then I finish the book and forget again.

I don't usually post fundraising type stuff here, but Little Miss Flint, who does a lot of community fundraising work in Flint, Michigan, runs an annual school supply drive to get kids in her community outfitted with everything they need for back-to-school, from clothes to school supplies and everything.

Her storage unit was just robbed and vandalized, and they lost almost everything, right before the back-to-school rush. So they're starting from scratch, with less than two weeks to go.

Flint is one of the poorest cities in the US and a lot of these kids depend on the clothes and supplies they receive through programs like these.

how are we feeling for Apokuna episode 3 guys

there's this weird trend rn where people seem to think that because they hate misogyny and racism and colonialism or whatever and don't want to address these things inadequately it's "safer" to not tackle these things at all. i only like writing fanfiction about men because then i don't have to think about misogyny. i only write white characters because i'm white and if i write characters of color i might mess up and do something racist. my historical fiction will be constructed in such a way that my reader will never have to think about the slavery and colonial extraction that provides the cotton my characters wear and the sugar they eat and the gold in their jewelry. the presence of the oppressed would introduce oppression, would rupture the fantasy, would make my characters, my readers, myself as the author, unclean. better not to let them be seen at all.

tbh even with historical fiction and colorblind casting there's something similar to this. we want to imagine a regency britain without racism. it will look exactly the same as a regency britain maintained by slavery colonialism and white supremacy, but anyone of any race can wear those nice dresses. we want to make a show about pirates without making you root for or sympathize with slavers, so let's forget about all that unpleasantness, blackbeard is a man of color now. we want an american revolution that looks like america does today. let's erase hercules mulligan's slave cato and his important spywork completely and instead cast his owner as a black man and call him an abolitionist. doesn't that go down a bit easier.

Friendly reminder that scott goldsmith likened his relationship with shelby to a hamster. He thought of her as something fuzzy, cute, and quick to die.

Shelby was the person he was closest to. Over the course of eight episodes he seems to learn to care about her. But he never makes a selfless choice for her, never puts himself on the line for her, never supports her beyond what helps himself.

Scott goldsmith went out of his way to orchestrate shelbys murder, and subsequent non-consentual turning, specifically to benefit himself. He then proceeded to spend the next eight episodes putting aside shelbys wants and needs for himself.

I maintain that throughout the series, he NEVER ONCE saw her as a person. She was a tool, a method of extracting attention and affection.

I feel like Apo’s gonna get some REAL mileage out of her shapeshifting when permadeaths start happening and a dead person’s face can trigger a more emotional reaction

I wonder if she’ll eventually be able to maintain multiple changes at once? (Because currently it seems like she can only do one)

I just need a major Apo shapeshifting win that someone’s gonna make a BANGER animation of. Just like how Pearl’s darkness terrified people I need Apo shapeshifting in front of others to make them nervous, with the only exception being the feather holders

I just think Apo deserves to finally be acknowledged as a threat the way Abolish is.
