Internet Art Piece

So I've been taking a web-based art course this semester. Everything I've seen and done has ranged from interesting to really, really weird.
For my last assignment I'm collecting video diary or "vlog" entries by people about their first experiences on the internet. So if anyone would like to participate that would help a whole lot.
The website is here;
Internet Video Diary Project

Thanks.

LOUNGE LISTINGS.................

Courvoisie Lounge: 431 Richmond St. West

I was invited to Courvoisie Lounge at 431 Richmond St. W, by one of its owner's Hyun-June Leonard Ro, who is also the owner of the Brooklyn Clothing franchises in Toronto, Mississauga, Burlington. This lounge is nicely designed and reminds me of the lounges in NewYork City. On Tuesday nights.... Kenny Glasgow and Teeloo Kitchen spin house till 3am. Hosted by Eddy-K this lounge is one of the newest additions to the downtown bar and club scene. A lounge style bar that's close to the theatre and entertainment. Recently opened, August 2003. I look forward to returning to this trendy spot...... Simona 03/10/2003

Paeez: 596 College St.

Here's another one of my favorite lounges on College street. Tons of seating space, and a chilled out atmosphere. The design of this lounge is also trendy. My estimate is that Toronto will eventually become like New York with big venues (such as the Guvernment and Lucid) being replaced by smaller lounges like Paeez. Another thing to mention, is that you are able to smoke shisha, which makes this lounge an enoyable and worthwhile experience. Simona 14/08/2003

Film Lounge: 393 Dundas St. W (at Beverley)

If you are looking for an after-hours spot, and want to avoid the Comfort Zone (if you have been to the Comfort zone you will know why...) check out the Film Lounge on Dundas in Chinatown. We went to this after hours at about 3 am, and it was packed. The design of this lounge is trendy with lots of room to sit, as this is important. Don't you hate when you go to a lounge and you have to stand all night. I enjoyed the music.. deep house. I came with a group of 3 girls and myself, and noticed that the ratio of guy to girl was 2:1. Good if you are female, not so much is you are male. I found that the staff and security were also friendly and will be back to this after-hours.... Simona 02/05/2004

C-Lounge: 456 Wellington Street West

Another creation from the Liberty Group. The same company that owns
the Phoenix, and the Courthouse. The C-Lounge reminds me of those
lounges in Miami, which incorporate design with function. Only
complaint is with the price of drinks and the lack of seating area indoors. However, outside is another story. Tons of seating space available.
Another interesting note is the location of this lounge. Wellington and Spadina.  Simona 08/10/2004

Hotel: 77 Peter St.

Small venue located on 77 Peter Street in club district. Drinks are priced reasonalbly and this lounge opens from Thursday to Saturday. The doorman who I spoke to stated that this lounge has recently went through renovations. The vibe is good, although I didn't like the fact that there is always a wait for the washrooms... and since this venue is located in club district, parking could be costly..... Regardless, i'll be back to this lounge. Simona 05/06/2005

Lily: 656 College St.

As Martini Boys quotes Lily as the "city's fresh lounging and dining venues -- a self-proclaimed "boutique" bar, resto and lounge. A shiny College Street hot spot that reflects the people who dine and lounge in this part of town. Naturally, the Lily location has an easygoing mix of 20- or 30-somethings dressed expensively casual." This lounge is located in Little Italy, nice atmosphere, and very hip place to be. Up and Down: 270 Adelaide St.

Once you get into the bar itself (finding it, getting past the door staff), it's quite a nice little lounge that serves up a very decent martini.  I'm gin, shaken, with a twist, and they pull it off admirably.  The seating area is divided into little close tables that promote close conversation, which is probably going to happen anyway.  There's typically a DJ that at best will get the volume level right for conversation.  At worst, he takes the firm belief that your conversation is not nearly as cool as the latest Bedrock single. This place tends to be the closer place for the evening.  Get all your usual stuff out of the way for the evening, tuck in to the booth, and relax with what will eventually be the last one for the night.  If you can get in, it's a bit pricey, but worth it.  Do yourself a favour.  Dress like a gentleman.Todd V. SPC Card for UTSC students

Hey guys, just wanted to share a deal I got recently:  all UTSC students can get an SPC card (student price card) which gives you discounts at a bunch of places like Bluenotes, Burger King, Second Cup, etc.

I thought it's a pretty good deal cause it's $8.50 and you get a free $10 gift card for Esprit, Guess, Jean Machine or Best Buy.  You can buy it online at http://www.spccard.ca/onlinestore.… , or you can buy it at one of the stores (check the site for the store list).

I hope this helps! For those that already have the card, share some of the deals you've gotten!

Locker Order Problems?

First of all, for any of you who haven't heard yet, lockers are being sold online this year, rather than in the UTSC office.

Secondly, I know that both myself and hikari_light have ordered our lockers, and both of us did not receive our confirmations right away.

I actually ran into another problem (regarding wanting a specific locker), and so I sent off an email: Collapse )

That was yesterday. Today, I received this response:Collapse )

I also received another email with my locker information (number and combination), and the following note:Collapse )

Originally, we thought that they were just waiting to give out the information, perhaps on the first day, or something, but we're now pretty sure the confirmation is supposed to be emailed to you pretty much right away.

So if you ordered your locker, and didn't get a confirmation, you might want to send an email off and see what's going on. If it happened to both of us, I somehow doubt we're the only ones.

On a last note, I hope everyone is ready for the new semester. Good luck, all!
