Hi this is a new community for me so I will start by introducing myself. I am a sea cadet (able cadet). I've been in since 2005. So I'm not really a sea cadet I'm a league cadet. But I'm the smartest out of my unit. I've got 7 leageys under my comand. I study alot on my own. I know I'll go down in history. So I study literature, philosophy, military history, battle field tactics, military equiptment and ancient and modern day weapons. I really want to go to NROTC then to be a pilot or flight engineer. By the way my name is Louis from rochester CA-124 division.
Question: When I give my CO the advancement paperwork, and he loses it--Do I have to do it over? Because I gave him my BMR work 8 month ago, and he never entered it in the data base. What do I do? I've got all the paperwork done up to PO3. I SHOULD be considered an SN, not an SR, but, he lost it all. What can I do?
First a little intro, my name's Whitney, I'm 15, and live in Louisiana. My birthday's on April 2nd, 1989. I've been interested in Sea cadets for a while, but I have a few questions that the leader of my nearest Division hasn't given me yet (I sent him an email a few days ago, I'm waiting a week before sending a follow up email to another division).
First, how many times a month do you meet? Do you just drill at meetings? Is there a set day, or does it differ from unit to unit? How long are the meetings?
What are some specific activities that yall do (Community service, excursions on ships, all that stuff)?
How much is the cost of your initial uniform, and for boot camp? I read that you can sometimes take 2 week excursions on CG or Naval Ships, does this cost anything? What do you mainly do for the two weeks?
I've found differing lists for what you can do after boot for specialised training. What has everyone here spececialised in, and if you could give me some specifics (Examples) of what you or anyone else you know does, that would be wonderful :)
I have a choice between a division and a squadren. I'm leaning towards division, I'd like to figure out what goes down on ships and whatnot. Still, if anyone's in a squadren, what are some of the specific things yall do in there?
Sorry for all the questions, but if someone could answer, I'd really, really appreciate it. Thanks :)
Hello, my name is Christine Alice H., and I'm in the Trenton Divison in NJ. This summer I went to RTC in Camp Smith, NY, from June 27-July 10. I thought it was a joke.
Anyway, I'm currently working on my Seaman coursework. I won't be promoted until January, but there is a POLA RIGHT before I'm promoted. I was wondering if there is any way to get an earlier promotion so I'll be able to attend the Leadership Academy. Thanks.
My division just went to Norfolk, VA for four days. It was a bunch of fun, we got to tour the USS Harry S. Truman ( CVN ), USS Hamptons ( SSN ) and a frigate ... I can't remember it's name. We also went to the VA Air & Space Museum. But the best part of the whole trip is that I've been promoted to ALPO! What's funny is that I'm still an apprentice, but I have my PO3 manual done and I already took the test. My CO's going to see what he can do to get me on some TWTs.
As some of you know I advanced to Seaman Apprentice a couple of days ago. The problem is that since I’ve only been in the program 6 months, some of the cadets that have been in for over a year (but are too lazy to do the BMR) are giving me attitude when I ask them to do something. They’re forming their own little group that’s against me. In that group are 2 recruits, supposedly 1 seaman apprentice (she never got her chevrons?) and 1 navy leaguer. Does anybody here have any advice I that I can use to deal with them. I think that they are just mad that since I’ve only been in it for a couple of months but am still a higher cadet than them. HELP! Please. Thanks.
i just had to share this news with people who actually understand...
I got back from Boot camp at Fort Hunter-Ligget on saturday I advanced to Seaman Apprentice Yesterday. I'm startng my Seaman Courses and i am sooo happy...
Hello USNSCC, I have taken a great interest in forming a new unit in Japan. I am a USNSCC INSTRUCTOR awaiting promotion to officer grade when I am part of a unit again. Since I was a former Sea Cadet I know alot of behind the scenes info. I would like some comment on how to make the program better.
