BURY OUR BONES IN THE MIDNIGHT SOIL will publish on June 10, 2025 with an announced market distribution of 500,000 copies. Schwab will sign the entire first print run.

On November 26, 2024, St. Martin’s Press will publish the eagerly awaited memoir of Angela Merkel. For 16 years, Angela Merkel was Chancellor of Germany. She led the country through numerous crises, shaping both Germany and international politics with her actions and attitudes. In her memoir, co-written with her long-time political advisor Beate Baumann, she reflects on her life in two German states – 35 years in the German Democratic Republic, 35 years in reunited Germany.

This is an unprecedented number of books chosen by the Booker Prize committee for a single US publisher in the same year.

On Friday, June 2, the Association of American Publishers (AAP), Penguin Random House, Candlewick Press, Hachette Book Group, HarperCollins Publishers, Macmillan Publishers, and Simon & Schuster filed an amicus brief in support of the plaintiffs, patrons of the Llano County Library System in Llano County, Texas, in the case of Little v. Llano County, a suit that challenges the actions taken by members of the Llano County Commissioners Court, members of the Llano County Library Board, and the Llano County Library System Director, to remove 17 books from the shelves of the public library system.

Macmillan to Take on Sales & Distribution Within the US for Pan Macmillan UK
Macmillan Publishers announced that it will take over the US sales and distribution of the Pan Macmillan UK Adult and Childrens’ Trade imprints. The UK imprints are currently distributed in the US by Trafalgar Square Publishing, part of IPG. The launch titles for the new arrangement will be published in July 2023.

Announcing the First Recipient of the FSG Writer’s Fellowship
Farrar, Straus and Giroux is proud to announce that the inaugural FSG Writer’s Fellowship has been awarded to the New Orleans–based writer Addie Citchens. Citchens, a graduate of Jackson State University, studied at the Florida State Writing Program and the Callaloo Creative Writing Workshop. Her writing, which examines themes such as Black womanhood, the blues, and the South, has appeared in Oxford American: The Best of the South, Midnight & Indigo’s speculative fiction anthology, Callaloo: A Journal of African Diaspora Arts and Letters, and Columbia Journal.
