"The spirit of brotherhood recognizes of necessity both the need of self-help and also the need of helping others in the only way which every ultimately does great good, that is, of helping them to help themselves." - Thomas Jefferson
The initial purpose of this community is to create a setting in which individuals interested in self-improvement might post their goals, chart their progress, and motivate others by example to take the steps they know they must in order to make the necessary changes they desire within their own lives.
This community has as much potential as you allow it. For example, if your goal is to adopt healthy eating habits and exercise, "buddying" up with someone with a similar goal may motivate you to maintain discipline within your own protocol by simply knowing that 300 miles away, your buddy is choosing not to eat that sweet.
However, keep in mind that this isn't just about physical health. We are also interested in improving our emotional, spiritual, and moral health. Philosophical discussions, emotional reflection, and exploration of different kinds of spirituality and life choices are all welcome and encouraged.
So, help yourself, help others, find comraderie or simply seek comfort in knowing that The Nutmeg Club exists.
