The Environment Team of Urban Unit visited Wastewater Treatment Plant for Kasur Tannery Cluster project in district Kasur. The team met government officials and the Kasur Tannery Association to discuss the proposed Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) and Chrome Recovery Unit (CRU), while conducting baseline environmental and socioeconomic assessments for the EIA. Community consultations revealed the devastating impact of industrial pollution, where one family lost five members, and another case where 4-year-old Noor Fatima passed away in stagnant tannery wastewater. The findings underscore the urgent need for sustainable wastewater treatment and access to clean water in Kasur.
