The Great Ones Evolve

Since its inception in 2018, the story on the can has told the tale of Dan Gable’s Olympic dominance.

Gable. One word can say so much. In our city, few words, if any, resonate with the force Gable does. In commemoration of his Olympic triumph (Munich - 1972) we’ve crafted a beer much more approachable than adversaries found Dan to be on the mat. Clean, crisp and GOLD. We can’t think of a more fitting tribute.

The story continues, and in this chapter it centers around the Hawkeye Wrestling Club (HWC), an organization that was founded by Dan in Iowa City, back in 1973.

With a relentless pursuit of excellence, Iowa Wrestling has a reputation and tradition unlike any other. Since 1973, the Hawkeye Wrestling Club has played a vital role in the continued success of not only the Iowa Wrestling program, but also our athletes’ quest to become World and Olympic Champions.
