Hey guys I'm guessing that's everyone's started their course now, so how's it going?
I'm reading english law & french law at king's college london and already it's pretty intense. Plus, everyone seems to already know each other haha what's that about?!
Hi there. I've just joined as I will be going to Dundee University this September to study English and will also be moving out in to student accomodation.
I'm excited and nervous all at once as I'm sure many of you can relate to.
I just recently finished my HNC in Communication with Media at Glasgow College of Nautical studies =)

Hey, I'm after some help and after searching LJ communities for a while, this seems to be the most appropriate community to ask this :) I was talking to a careers advisor earlier and I told her how much I hate my home town and how I'm not going to get a job for Summer, so she said "Why don't you move to Plymouth (my Uni town) now instead of waiting until September?". I said I couldn't do that as I don't have a substantial chunk of money to put down a deposit...etc on accomodation and that I'll have to wait until my loan comes through. She then went onto say that this wasn't a good idea as a lot of loans don't come through until after freshers week/term has started!
So, now I'm really panicking! Has anyone else been told/heard/thought this? I thought my loan would be with me for the start of the semester, surely that makes more sense?
Any advice greatly appreciated :)

Can anyone please answer this for me?
I will be at UWIC in September 2005, and I know that top up fees will be introduced in September 2006. I had heard that Wales might not partake, but if they do - after my first year, will I change to the new fee system, or stay on the original one because I'm already a year into a degree? I have had various answers to this one (I know I need to call UCAS but the phoneline is shut now and I'm staying in the states right now too) and UWIC haven't written back to me.
I know some people were applying for Sept 2005 and then deferring to miss the top ups..so I'm confused.
So; people who will already be on their courses come September 2006; will they pay top up fees or continue with their original style of fees?
Help!
Today I have received an unconditional offer from the University of East London for the
BA Early Childhood Studies.
It is part-time though and was kinda my 'safe harbour' because I applied late.
I cannot wait for interview invitations.

Hello,
just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jessica, I live in London. I have applied for entry in 2005/06.
Long story though, I have already studied in Germany for two years, but really really do not like living there. It made me really unhappy, so I applied for Primary Education through UCAS last year. Year 2 entry. Noone was interested in me though, but I figured out why. Year 2 entry is really not possible for that course.
So I used Ucas Extra and started the BA Education Studies with Spanish. I have to say, I have deeply disappointed by the university and after a while decided that I don't wanna do this either. So this year I applied again for the BA Primary Courses in London.
My choices are:
Goldsmiths College (though that is the BA Education, Culture and Society)
Greeenwich University
Kingston University
Middlesex University
Roehampton University
St.Mary's College
I really hope to hear back from them soon. I have submitted my form rather late, but both Goldsmiths and Roehamton have contacted me about my qualifications already.
Good luck to everyone !!

Hey. I just came across this community and decided to join. I'm currently doing my A levels at John Leggott College in Scunthorpe. I'm doing English Lang & Lit, Media Studies, Drama & Theatre Studies and Sociology.
I can't wait to go to uni in September!! I'm gonna be studying English. I've got conditional offers from Leeds Met, Manchester Met and Sheffield Hallam. Unfortunately I was rejected from Leeds Uni which is where I really wanted to go, but oh well. We'll see what happens.

Hi, I'm from Canada and thinking of going to England for my masters degree.
I've been looking around the internet, but I can't quite find the answers to all of my questions.
1) What is the difference between a university and a university-college? I thought it was mainly that universities are able to give out postgraduate degrees, while university colleges are not, but the university colleges that I've been looking at all offer masters degrees. Is it easier to get into university-colleges?
2) What is a first class or upper second class? And what is this 2:1 or 2:2 that I keep hearing about?
3) How hard is it to get accepted to a masters program in psychology or ancient history?
Thanks so much for your help :)
