Hope's Peak Festival: Carnival Games
[RETURN TO THE FOUNTAIN]
Taking a left at the fountain, you head towards the area that has been designated for carnival games and the funhouse, aiming to reach the former. Soon, you find yourself at the centre of a semi-circle of stalls, each one offering the chance to test your skills in order to win a prize.
Three stalls catch your eye. The first contains a large, shallow pool of rubber ducks, each with a small hook on their head. A pump gently pushes water about, causing the flock of yellow birds to form a slowly moving vortex. The rules on the board state that for the equivalent of a single US dollar, you can attempt to fish one of these ducks out with a rod, which will be provided to you. On the bottom of each duck, there will be a number between one and seventy-five. If you pick up a duck with a number between one and twenty-five, you will win a prize. Simple, right?
[INSTRUCTIONS: Click this link (https://rolladie.net/roll-a-d100-die) below to roll a one-hundred-sided die. If you roll a number between one and twenty-five, you successfully hook a duck, and you can redeem a prize. If you roll a number between twenty-six and seventy-five, you successfully hook a duck, but you can not redeem a prize. If you roll a number between seventy-six and one hundred, you fail to hook a duck.]
The second stall contains a number of weighted tin cans, stacked into small pyramids. There are three on the base, two above that, and one on top, creating pyramids of six. For the equivalent of a single US dollar, you can attempt to knock over one of these stacks by throwing three balls towards them. If you can knock down a stack of six tins, you will win a prize! How’s your aim?
[INSTRUCTIONS: Click this link (https://rolladie.net/roll-a-d20-die) to roll a twenty-sided die. If your character has an Ultimate Talent, or any relevant background, that means they may have an edge in this game, immediately add +5 to your score. A score between zero and five means you hit no cans. Six and eight, you hit one. Nine and eleven, you hit two. Twelve and fourteen, you hit three. Fifteen and seventeen, you hit four. Eighteen, you hit five. Nineteen, you hit all six. Twenty or above, and you hit down all six tins in one throw. What a show off!]
The third stall contains a long pole, segmented like a large ruler. At the top of the pole, there is a bell, while at the bottom, there is a pressure plate. Using a long, rubber sledgehammer, your aim is to hit the pressure plate hard enough to send a small weight rocketing upwards. With enough strength, you’ll make it hit the bell, and in turn, you’ll win a prize! Like the other stalls, it only costs the equivalent of one US dollar! Time to flex those muscles!
[INSTRUCTIONS: Click this link (https://rolladie.net/roll-a-d20-die) to roll a twenty-sided die. If your character has an Ultimate Talent, or any relevant background, that means they may have an edge in this game, immediately add +5 to your score. Roll a zero? You miss the pressure plate. Between one and five? “WEAKLING.” Six and ten? “AVERAGE.” Eleven and fifteen? “NOT BAD!” Sixteen? “ALRIGHT!” Seventeen? “GOOD!” Eighteen? “GREAT!” Nineteen? “ALMOST PERFECT!” Twenty or higher? “DING, DING, DING!” You hit the bell and can collect a prize!]
At the very centre of the semi-circle, there is a stall marked as the, “PRIZE STATION.” Huge plush toys in every animal and colour imaginable sit on shelves, just waiting for you to claim them! Will you win them for yourself? Or perhaps, a significant other? The choice is yours!
