Rizwan Nazir reposted thisRizwan Nazir reposted thisI have recently started a fundraiser in support of Oxfam, an organisation working to tackle poverty and provide essential resources to communities facing crisis. Having grown up in the UK, I recognise how fortunate and privileged we are to have access to opportunities and basic necessities that many people around the world still lack. From my own experiences, visiting less privileged communities abroad, I have seen first-hand how eye-opening these inequalities are and it is something that has stayed with me. We have already nearly reached halfway towards the target and I am encouraging you to simply substitute something small, like a £2 coffee, for a £2 donation instead. Every donation, no matter how small, will go towards essential support like food, clean water, education and emergency aid for those who need it most. If you are able to donate or even just share this, I would be incredibly grateful. Your £2 could help change someone’s life. Please click the link below to see my fundraising page. Thank you so much #charity #oxfam #fundraising #awareness #nonprofit #community

Rizwan Nazir shared thisThe Bank of England, PRA and FCA have now published final rules (PRA PS7/26 & FCA PS26/2) to strengthen operational incident and material third-party reporting. Effective from March 2027, the changes focus on simplification, integration, and better alignment with global standards. Overall, this should enable faster incident response, improved oversight, and better management of systemic third-party risks. To be helpful, we’ve summarised what this means in practice - please get in touch if you would like to discuss how firms can use this as an opportunity to enhance TPRM and operational resilience through more integrated data, processes, and controls. https://pwc.to/4sUUlw4 #TPRM #OperationalResilience #PwCUK Penny Flint James Houston Charles Rodger Ian Trinder Tom Kohler Stella Nunn Duncan Scott Isha Arora Alison Haire Barun Shaw Andrew Bache Drew Kemp Harshkumar Gogari Joe Quinn Abhishek Gupta Iordanis Kesoulis Hugo Rousseau Conor Macmanus Craig Skinner Nick BouchRegulators confirm operational incident and third-party reporting regimeRegulators confirm operational incident and third-party reporting regime

Rizwan Nazir shared thisGreat reflecting on the conversations and insights from last month's PwC UK Annual TPRM Summit. What really stood out was the strength of the TPRM community - a space where people can openly share challenges, experiences and perspectives across third party risk, outsourcing, and resilience. We’re looking forward to continuing the discussion through our webinars and roundtables throughout the year. If you’re not currently on our invite list and would like to join future sessions, please let us know.Rizwan Nazir shared thisJust over a month has passed since our Annual TPRM Summit 🗓️. The responses and feedback have been overwhelmingly positive and it’s very clear that most of our clients and guests really value the opportunity to come together and feel part of a professional community 🏘️. The UK FS TPRM community really does feel like a space where we are all open and honest with our challenges and experiences, in the spirit of collaborating and acknowledging many of those challenges and opportunities are shared. We will continue to invest our time in bringing people together through our annual summit, but also through our series of webinars and in-person round tables. Rizwan Nazir reposted thisRizwan Nazir reposted thisWhat an incredible day last Thursday at our annual PwC TPRM summit, welcoming nearly 200 clients and industry professionals to our Embankment Place office 🏣 This event has really grown in the past few years and it’s such a privilege being able to bring the community together and have an open and honest discussion about the challenges the market faces. Some of my key takeaways were: The nature of the risks that we are managing continues to evolve, and geopolitical tensions are forcing us to look the risk and makeup of supply chains through a new lens 🌍 Firms still have a way to go in term of technology and data and many business processes are still in need to digitising, particularly in the context of harnessing the power and opportunity of AI 💻 Finding interoperability across regulatory regimes (e.g. op res, OCIR, DORA) is vital to deliver compliance, but TRPM functions must also continue to focus on business enablement 📈 I was especially proud that during the breaks and showcase sessions, we had the opportunity to demonstrate some of the AI tooling my team has been designing and building. It was great to see so many people engaging with the demos and wanting to understand how these technologies can unlock scale, insight, and operational efficiency across the TPRM lifecycle. Rizwan Nazir reposted thisRizwan Nazir reposted thisWhat an incredible day last Thursday at our third annual PwC TPRM Summit! We welcomed nearly 200 clients to our Embankment Place offices 🏢 for thought-provoking discussions on the most pressing issues impacting TPRM today. In a world searching for stability, one message came through clearly: effective TPRM must stay anchored to CEO priorities and what truly matters to the organisation. The conversations throughout the day were outstanding — thank you to everyone who joined and contributed. Your questions, perspectives and debate made it a genuinely insightful day! My key takeaway: CEOs are rewriting the rules. Operating models are shifting. AI is disrupting traditional supply chains and BPO models. Organisations are moving into adjacent sectors. And geopolitics is driving real, structural business change. TPRM can’t afford to lag behind. CEO priorities must define what’s material, where risk truly sits, and where time and effort are focused. Relevance comes from aligning to the change agenda — not managing yesterday’s risk. 🎢 Regulation is increasingly converging across operational resilience, procurement, CLM and broader risk disciplines. But we can’t lose sight of the CEO agenda. How leaders drive change, shape the supply chain and define risk against strategic priorities should fundamentally inform what we consider “material”. That’s where TPRM delivers real value. Huge thanks to my brilliant panelists — Chris Stevenson, Patrick Marter FCIPS CEng and Alex Sagovsky — for an engaging discussion on “Evolving the Enterprise: CEO priorities and the new TPRM mandate.” It was a real pleasure to host and learn alongside you. Looking forward to continuing the conversation! What started as one day has grown into weeks of volunteering, fundraising and skills-sharing throughout May. Our people have been supporting causes that matter to them, helping young people build confidence and workplace skills, coaching social enterprises, supporting charities with AI upskilling and fundraising for Mental Health UK. This year’s theme is all about using our skills and experience to make a practical difference in the communities we work alongside every day. A huge thank you to everyone taking part, and to the schools, charities and community organisations welcoming us in. #OFOD

It's Fraud Awareness week, and so many of the risks and preventative controls are measures that align to the Cyber world too. Fraud is no longer limited to obvious red flags; it now permeates digital environments, organisational behaviours and complex financial frameworks. Organisations need to go beyond detection and take proactive steps to understand risks, strengthen controls and educate employees. My FTI Consulting colleague Natalie Faulkner outlines three key tips you can use to prevent and respond to evolving fraud risks. The FCA’s scrutiny of outcomes monitoring will only intensify, making it imperative for firms to act now to ensure compliance and consumer protection. Delaying, or waiting to see what others do, will have a significant impact on an organisation's long-term success. FTI Consulting’s Financial Services experts, Imran Ahmad and Samuel Haskins, explore challenges in monitoring customer outcomes and the use of data and technology in the financial services industry.

The latest version of our Risk and Reg Edit is now available. Find it - and subscribe - below. In this version, I have contributed to musings on the probability and would-be effects of potential de-regulation in Financial Services in the UK and EU in the wake of both American signals and the Draghi report on European competitiveness. If massive de-regulation does indeed come (which seems unlikely) it would mean a massive change for CROs and their teams across FS institutes all over Europe since risk management would to a lesser extent be mandated through regulation. To quote the Edit: "For CROs, every possible regulatory scenario will bring its challenges. Wholesale reductions in regulation may be unlikely, but each alteration will create some costs, and innovation initiatives to test firms’ capabilities. CROs need to position themselves as enablers of responsible innovation." And as sense-makers, I might add here, since risk management activities will need much stronger business cases if the "we-have-to-argument" falls away. Will be interesting to see how it all pans out over the next years.

Tariq Ghadie has written a very insightful piece on diversity of thought in CRO roles that resonates strongly with what I’m seeing in the Australian market. His central observation hits home: regulators are unintentionally blocking cognitive diversity in second line roles. As Ghadie notes, they “have little incentive to take a risk-based approach, opting for the safer conservative option as their default.” The parallel between UK and Australian markets is particularly striking. Both introduced accountability regimes following major conduct failures (the UK financial crisis, Australia’s Royal Commission). Both were designed to drive strategic, commercially minded risk leaders. Yet approval processes in both jurisdictions often reward traditional career paths over broader perspectives. Ghadie’s success story of appointing a Chief Controls Officer with operations, technology and finance experience into a CCO role, despite no second line background, mirrors the talent pathway Australian institutions need to embrace more systematically. Her “affinity with the business” created a credible CRO successor in a way career compliance officers often cannot. His emphasis on “intellectual restlessness - the ability to anticipate and explore emerging vulnerabilities before they crystallise” captures what distinguishes effective modern CROs from technical risk managers. My own experience establishing customer remediation programmes and leading controls uplift at Big Four Banks in Australia required exactly this combination of first line business understanding with risk capability. As Ghadie concludes, “the CRO position is attracting high-calibre, non-traditional candidates alongside established top performers. Together, these talent pools are raising the bar.” Both UK and Australian markets need to embrace this future more fully. #RiskManagement #Leadership #FinancialServices #Diversity

I have to agree with John Farley quoted in the latest Gallagher report on #AIRisk: "AI liabilities aren't simple data breaches; they're a black box of algorithmic risk where traditional breach response approaches fall short. Managing these legal, operational and reputational exposures requires a multidisciplinary approach that addresses bias and blends oversight with data integration." #AIRisk

Term 34 of 100: Control Illusion (Observed globally in governance and risk assessments.) Control Illusion is believing systems are in control because dashboards look complete and reports look green. Controls exist. Oversight doesn’t. Board cue: If control is assumed, risk is already active. #RegulatorsLexiconWithMadhavan Disclaimer: Educational insight only. Not investment advice.
