Wow, this community is inactive. Please visit the
TESC webpage if you are an engineering UCSD student. It is the Triton Engineering Student Council. If you are wondering what that means, it is like the federal government for all the engineering UCSD organizations, frats, honors societies, clubs, etc.
At every weekly meeting, each org reports what they are up to and has at least one representative there--or at least sends a video of himself/herself if they really can't make it.
TESC is the only UCSD organization that is able to list all the engineering activities for all the engineering orgs in one
calander. (It's slow at loading--be patient.)
TESC has a townhall feel to it. All the leaders for orgs are there and anyone who is an engineering student can walk in and listen or participate in debates or voting that goes on--try to pretend to join TESC before doing all this. (A sign in sheet goes around at some of the meetings and you can choose to join none or as many subcommittees as you like. A subcommittee is like a group of people in TESC who get together and decide to do something for TESC or engineering students in general.)
There are about 4000 engineering students and about only 500 are actively in an engineering org. You don't need to join TESC. You can join an individual org or start your own and be added to TESC. These are the
active orgs who are listed as part of TESC and links to their webpages.
I post this with the hopes that more student contributed projects would appear again such as the
UCSD Pascal System which according to this
website undergrads help create and later moved on to do other great things.
I cannot emphasize enough how blessed we all are to be a UCSD and budding engineers. If you use your few years wisely, you can accomplish some great things. These great things don't come easy, but TESC or engineering student orgs can be a step in the right direction. You never know whom you will meet and what significant things you can accomplish. Be inspired and inspire others.
SAT analogy:
state government : federal government :: engineering org government/leadership : TESC
