I'd like to get into sailing a bit. Is the Cal Sailing Club any good in regards to beginner friendliness and having college-age members?

The end of my time at Berkeley is coming to an end and I find myself with lots of free time so I'm thinking of reading a lot more and exploring the Bay Area more on my own.
What are some good nonfiction books you've read while here? Esp. law, philosophy, politics, etc.
Where are some good, relatively un-touristy places you'd recommend around here? I feel like I've seen tons if not all of the must-do things but I always want to see/do more. Food places, photogenic areas, events, etc. are always good.
